blacknight 09-12-2002, 01:40 PM I wish somebody would make a sticky at the top of this board with a list of the most popular helpdesks and control panels (both Open source and commercial)
Yes - PerlDesk is excellent
Hmmm, I never saw this before. Our guys actually wrote a service order ticketing system but nothing this intense. This looks pretty cool. I think I will have them take a look at this to get some ideas ;)
DMH DaZ 09-13-2002, 05:41 AM Cool, but when i went to install it, it didnt load, so i reinstalled it, and now it doesnt work!! Can i please help some help!!!
mlovick 09-13-2002, 09:31 AM Perldesk is REAL simple to get working but it does require some perl modules to be installed on the server. Read the docs that came with it and you cant go wrong. I had it working within 5 minutes.
goodness0001 09-13-2002, 11:37 AM kayako.com
Geek3 09-13-2002, 12:08 PM i have to also agree with goodness
if you have some money and want users to avoid having to LOG IN each time they need to post a support ticket, then kayako.com is the way to go! =-)

In your experience, does PerlDesk send a notification when the ticket priority is changed? With my installation it doesn't. This could be bad because if someone has a more urgent request, I need to get on it.

MarlboroMan 09-16-2002, 05:00 AM Daz, log into a shell, and do the following:
tail -f /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log
Then attempt to open the page. Let us know what errors you see.

Don't mind helping you out, if it's still needed.
jameso 09-19-2002, 04:48 AM I had this exact same problem the other week.
The error I made was in the installation. I mistyped the path and URL to perldesk.
Just rerun install.cgi and ensure that all the details are exactly correct.
I hope this helps.
