pedrojose 11-23-2008, 11:02 PM In WhoIsHostingThis.com how to display our own hosting company??
Hello everyone,
So im running a small web hosting company here in Portugal, i have one questions regarding the information that my clients see when looking at their website url on whoishostingthis.com.
- So when one of my client search is website url the information that shows is:
The IP address (22.222.22.22) for myclientwebsite.com is owned by ThePlanet.
The site's nameservers are:
ns1.mycompanyserver1.net,
ns2.mycompanyserver1.net.
So my question is:
1- So what can i do in order that the information displayed when my clients search their websites under whoishostingthis.com, is displayed with my company name instead of where are my servers located.
Any advice or how-to?
thanks
teachforjune-Scott 11-24-2008, 12:48 AM I think you mean rDNS entries. You have to have your DC do this for you unless they have a panel that allows you to self assign rDNS. This way, when they do an IP lookup, your hosting company will show up. But if they continue to dig, they will always find out who owns the IP block.

microvps 11-24-2008, 09:46 AM You are looking to hide your nameservers on you customers Whois entries to show him not connected to you. That should be custom DNS servers installed for your customer. And you customer should be at least on the VPS to setup there their nameservers

I want to know is how to showl aslo as my name company has host, so for that i have to change the rDNS entries?
Or theres is something else?
QualityNonsense 11-24-2008, 11:23 AM pedrojose, drop me a PM / message via the site and we'll sort it out.
nimbar 11-24-2008, 11:48 AM Hello, websites like the one you provided do check the owner of the IP block. Unless you get or pay for your own block of IP's, whoishostingthis is going to show the datacenter/provider where you are hosted on. Greetings!.

QualityNonsense 11-24-2008, 11:56 AM Nimbar, WhoIsHostingThis.com looks at more than IP block. Take the example of SingleHop - they share an IP block with MidPhase, yet you get the correct result.
It doesn't work for every reseller host yet, but we're working on improving results over the coming months.

Hello, yes, you're correct... take an example of my domain name "nimbar dot com". It shows the owner of the IP block, however it doesn't take in consideration the nameserver or the whois IP lookup (swip). Are you the developer of whoishostingthis?. Nice site!. Greetings.
