Within the first few days someone had signed up.

Just make sure to submit your site to search engines before you actually release your site as they can take up to something like 6 weeks before your site is added to their database.

<EDIT: Oops, I'm not a reseller but I believe this is still valid.>

First one was about 3 to 4 weeks. Then the next one in a week from that. Slow and steady is good. You then look back over almost 12mths and there's a lot of clients there that came in slow and steady.

my first customer signed up 3 days ago.

i released my site 1 and a half week ago..i thought this was slow..but i guess its normal after hearing others..

If you are serious and in it for the long run, then customers will sign up with you in time. You just need patience. :)

we convinced some design customers to come onboard right away so we got off running. The first 'wilder' would have been about a week later.

Most of us started off as resellers to begin with. The fact many of us are still around and running our own boxes now shows it'll happen if you spend the time with your customers and be prepared to put in a few hard weeks (months) to get to a point where the ball starts to roll on it's own.

before i got my hosting site up ..even :p LOL
coz my first custometrs were people i designed sites for . so they had belief in me :)
