why do people sell their domains and why do people go buy them?

The questions is why not sell a domain!?

First off all, many people on WHT own anywhere from 1 to 500 domains, and if you're not using any, why not see if you can make some cash off of them.

From what I've gathered, most people want to buy domains without hyphens and like to see pretty good stats on them. If you have a domain listed in yahoo, I've seen people go nuts over those :D

I know this wasn't the most educated answer, but really, what type of answer you looking for!

So if I have a site that lures in many viewers (maybe one Gig a day), I can sell that domain for more since it is very popular??

Of course. Not sure what you meant by "(maybe one Gig a day)"
But, if it's a high traffic site, of course it's worth more money.

1 gb bandwidth doesn't mean a thing. You might only have 100 X 10mb files on the site, in which case it's only 100 visitors. You need to look through your log files and whatever stats program is running and see how many "unique visitors" the site is getting (note this is *not* the same as "hits")
