A website I'm looking to design will have a forum. My question is this, if I acquire a free forum (ezboard) will that the forum behosted on a separate site from my main website host or will it be on my main website server?

I'm just concerned that high traffic on my forum will affect the fees I pay for my website host.

Thanks again for all your help

It's up to you. If you download a program and install it on the server you use, the traffic will indeed be part of your account usage. If you use a remotely hosted forum, such as one that many companies provide, it will be separate from your account.

Boards like ezboard are hosted remotely. That means, it won't affect your bandwidth directly.

But if it is a high traffic forum, why don't you get advertisers for it? Then you can have income to cover up your outgoing...

Donovan's suggestion is good, go to Commission Junction (http://www.cj.com) and find a few ads that are approprite for your forum. Text links work best.

If you're looking for a remotely hosted board, another option is http://www.coolboard.com.

Or http://www.spine.de , if you don't mind about perlish board.. It has some benefits... because it's not a forum in it's usual taste.
