Server info has yet to be determined. Basically, I am adding another dedicated server to my resources, and to help defray the cost of it, I plan to take on a few shared clients. I dont want to start another business, this is more of a sideline for me to defray the expense.

I am not going to oversell the network and I am not going to take on clients that require babysitting. I am not going to hire anyone to provide support, etc and I do not envision accepting more than 10 accounts. The server will be adequte and it will not be oversold/underbuilt.

This will be a small time hosting service, where you get personalized service. You will be given my home phone number and you will be some of the few people alive today that have the ability to wake me up in the middle of the night. This is not going to turn into a "Wham, Bam, Thank you mam" type of service.

When I have enough customers, I will not accept anymore.

Most companies I know of charge as much as $30.00 for an additional domain name. My account includes two (most include one) and some charge an even larger fee for thier FIRST MySQL DB.

This is in the exploratory phase. I am asking people what THEY WOULD BE WILLING TO PAY for this service if they needed it. I am not taking signups, I dont have a website online and I do not have server info yet. I am trying to feel the pulse here and see what people are willing to pay for this service and decide wheather or not it is even worth my time.

For what you are offering I think a realistic price would be from 7.99 to 12.99 a month for that.. The options in my opinion are way over priced databases should be included atleast a few should.. charging for a invoice? I think the only people that get away with that is merchant providers and the pager thing should be standard. The nameserver thing is understandable though.. If you are just looking to pay off both the servers you could drop it down to something like 4.99 a month and prob get a decent amount of customers up.

But I dont want to have 150 customers packed onto the server. My websites are going to be hosted here too and I definatly would not want to put my sites on a server that has been packed with people and is being raped for bandwidth. Not to mention, I would have to provide support to all of them... no thanks.

I would rather have 10 customers that know what they are doing, and only call me when something is wrong as opposed to 150 customers that are each billing $4.99 a month and submitting support requests until the cows come home.

Also...

The charge for paper invoices is because they are a pain. There is postage, my time, mailing and so on. There is no reason why someone cannot get thier invoices by e-mail unless they want to be a pain.

Databases put a huge load on the server and consume valuable resources. People get one database for free. If they need more, they can pay a setup fee for them, which will cover the cost of any upgrades to the sever that become nessicary as a result of the increased demand and strain.

I think that the normal price would be $15-20 per month, of course, in WHT the normal price would be $4.95 per month:rolleyes:

Thats the range I had in mind. I always like independant opinions though, I tend to inflate my worth. I was thinking of $16.95 a month or thereabouts.
