View Full Version : What do you use to make reseller life easier?
thespeakerbox 11-06-2008, 06:43 PM I hate manually creating accounts for clients.
Do they make add-ons that make creating account instantly when a customer pays?
Or in general, what makes your life easier as a reseller?
GixxerPC 11-06-2008, 07:29 PM WHMCS is an amazing tool.
You set up your plans, set up your payment types (paypal, credit card, etc). Add the links, your good to go.
It takes the payment, makes the account, sends the emails.
PremiumHost 11-06-2008, 08:51 PM Or in general, what makes your life easier as a reseller?
A good billing & helpdesk system will make your life much easier.
A good reseller hosting account is very important as well.
There's not much work to do when server is running well.
psp7492 11-06-2008, 09:02 PM Integrated support system will save a lot of time and effort.
GixxerPC 11-06-2008, 09:39 PM WHMCS is a must to look into. It has your billing and your support.

Most main stream CPs offer automated billing and account creation.
Are you looking for something more specific?
HostRefugee-Vince 11-06-2008, 11:23 PM ClientExec is another option for billing / automated account creation and a support desk all-in-one.
Rageki-John 11-06-2008, 11:46 PM I would also recommend WHMCS. Our company uses it and it's a great client for generating invoices, handling automatic account creations, and it offers a support system as well.
As many have said, WHMCS.com is a very very nice tool for hosts :)
thespeakerbox 11-07-2008, 12:10 AM Oh nuts. My host charges $5/ mo for WHMCS. i was hoping that it would be a free add on.
hydroburn 11-07-2008, 12:27 AM you can consider using whmcs or clientexec .
if you are looking for a free option, you can consider phpcoin. however, it may not reflect very well on your business .
whmcs doesnt cost that much after all.
Oh nuts. My host charges $5/ mo for WHMCS. i was hoping that it would be a free add on.
Dude, thats cheap already. They are getting the license at about $7~$13, and they are selling at $5, which means they are making a loss!
ldcdc 11-07-2008, 10:13 AM i was hoping that it would be a free add on. There are hosts that give it for free with the reseller hosting package, though $5, as LaptopFreak argued above, is still cheap enough.
They are getting the license at about $7~$13 Not necessarily. It all depends on the volume and negotiations skills. :)

As of the following page, thats their price. Unless they had purchased for about 200 to 400 license, I doubt it is possible to get them at a price lower than $5/month.

But as of WHMCS site, 100 license is $720 which is $7.20 each. So if they were to get $5 each, they need to purchase a large quantity before they are entitled to do so.
Update: I got this piece of information from WHMCS. After 100 license will be 250 license for $6.80 each which makes it $1700.

Usually ClientExec is cheaper or free. The licensing is cheaper for the host to obtain. Now, WHMCS is more expensive, and as such, costs you more. However, I've tried both, and I think WHMCS is a lot better piece of software.

WHMCS is more popular too! You can get 5 montly ClientEXEC license for $20 a month.. Dirt cheap!
GixxerPC 11-07-2008, 02:18 PM I've seen companies offer WHMCS licenses for beyond cheap. That does not mean they are getting them for that price or below it. It means they feel good enough about the profit margin with the cost of you also getting a hosting account to make up for it.
menacers 11-07-2008, 07:46 PM I'd vouch for WHMCS, i found it to be easy to use and fairly configurable. "Matt" is the man, i bought my WHMCS licence day after i tried it. Also i noticed on thier latest quaterly email update that they offer free eNOM accounts included with WHMCS which is amazing!
ReadyRick 11-07-2008, 07:56 PM What I love about WHMCS is how fast their support team responds to tickets. Lately, they've been responding at lightning speeds. I'm very impressed!
menacers 11-07-2008, 08:00 PM I think it makes sense for hosting companies to take a hit on the whmcs and make the money back on the VPS they sell you. Heck, if they are offering for licence for $5, why do you complain? BUY IT - its a deal!

Billing system as whmcs, clientexec will make your life much easier. Automatic account creation will help a lot.
01globalnet 11-08-2008, 09:40 AM If 5$ is too much, then you must re-consider your business plan!
Creating just ONE account manually, worths more than 5$ anyway!
You want it all, but free!
Roy H 11-10-2008, 10:11 AM WHMCS does everything. A number of resellers such as hostgator,hostnine,jaguarpc,site5 and a couple more provide it for no additional costs. You can also get it seperately for $19.95/mo

I remember it is cheaper..
Oh ya, WHMCS create the account automatically after the client pays or before?

There are options. You can set it to create the account immediately after the order is placed or immediately after the payment is made. It's really an ideal client management system, it can be fully intergrated into your site aswell as being able to remove the WHMCS logo and branding.

Unless you customize the template, removing the logo won't work. :)
So if our client don't pay, they will not have their account created, so as it can somehow minimize fraud right?

Yes, it can definitely minimize fraud.
Yes, it can definitely minimize fraud.
But after that, we still can check the new signups and see if anybody placed any fake information right?
WisTex 11-12-2008, 12:22 AM But after that, we still can check the new signups and see if anybody placed any fake information right?
Yes. And it supports several fraud plugins such as MaxMind and Telesign.
We use WHMCS and we like it.

MaxMind don't seem to be cheap and I've heard that they catch the wrong group often too..
WisTex 11-12-2008, 01:06 AM MaxMind don't seem to be cheap and I've heard that they catch the wrong group often too..
WHMCS includes the basic level of MaxMind for free. On the customer's order screen it shows vital details that help you determine how risky the order is (i.e. if the telephone number and the zip code and the IP address are not near each other, it may be a red flag).

Will they prevent the order from continuing then?
overture 12-16-2008, 04:52 PM I'm using phpCoin, but the code is a bit messy because it was written in php4 (procedural style). Might look into some other products.
Any other open source products out there??
LaneHost 12-16-2008, 07:11 PM Will they prevent the order from continuing then?
Yes, if you have one of the fraud modules installed it will prevent the order from completing after certain fraud checks are done on the order. Depending on what level of fraud service you have will determine the amount of checks.
One of the add-ons you can get for example with MaxMind is the phone verification which automatically calls your customer during sign up to verify their phone. It's a good feature and another level of fraud protection that can be done in WHMCS.
HostLeet 12-16-2008, 11:08 PM WHMCS is what you're looking for :) #1 automation/billing/support solution out there, no doubt.
AquariusStorage 12-17-2008, 12:15 AM WHMCS is what you're looking for :) #1 automation/billing/support solution out there, no doubt.
I second this. Use WHMCS for all of your support/billing/automation needs. Want to rest easy at night knowing the account your auto approving is safe? Get a MaxMind, wich is integrated into well into WHMCS. WHMCS 3.8 was just released and 4.0 isn't that far off..... WHMCS has taken the hosting industry by storm and if your using anything else besides a custom coded solution, it's already dated. (ok ClientExec isn't terrible :-P)
overture 12-17-2008, 10:36 AM WHMCS has got a great reponse in this thread. I might check it out. I'd prefer an open-source alternative though!

I don't remember there are any decent open source scripts that has at least half of the features WHMCS support..
Thrive 12-17-2008, 11:43 AM I use WHMCS, it's one of the reasons why i went with the host i did (theprimehost), they had lots of nice extras which you need to be a good host.

Don't forget their top notch support. Can't speak for others but whenever we have had any problem they have always been quick to help. That kind of good consistent support is hard to find.
superbrain 12-17-2008, 03:54 PM I agree that WHMCS is good.. I just switched from modernbill.. I also have a hostgator reseller account in which I get WHMCS for free..

I agree with LaptopFreak - there are really not any notable open-source alternatives.

TmzHosting 12-17-2008, 06:17 PM You have to do some research mate. Of course there is. The best is WHMCS :).
- Daniel :)
Rageki-John 12-18-2008, 04:36 AM I also agree that WHMCS is probably one of the best billing systems out there. It's not too expensive and I believe it's worth every penny ;). You can get cheaper WHMCS licenses from Licensepal.
