Hi folks - I'm working on a hosting terms glossary and hate it when a letter gets left blank.

Can anyone think of web hosting related terms that begin with either X or Z - I'm drawing a blank here!

Thanks

Hmm I searched around and came across:

XML
Short for eXtensible Markup Language, a new specification being developed by the W3C. XML is a pared-down version of SGML, designed especially for web documents. It enables designers to create their own customized tags to provide functionality not available with HTML. For example, XML supports links that point to multiple documents, as opposed to HTML links, which can reference just one destination each.

Zone File
The group of files that reside on the domain host or nameserver. The zone file designates a domain, its subdomains and mail server.

I don’t think there are many hosting terms starting with X and Z :)

Ah - Zone File, that's a great one! Thanks! (I thought of XML right after posting the message, but thanks for that one too. :)

Just look around http://www.zend.com/ ... since there are a few products.

Zend Encoder: encodes PHP scripts to protect your source codes from unauthorized copying/tampering
Zend Optimizer: allows faster execution of encoded PHP scripts
Zend Accelerator: provides optimization/caching of PHP scripts to enhance performance, increase number of concurrent requests handled, and decreases latency.

Cool. I do all my development in ASP, so Zend was a new one to me. I'll add it to my list.

Yes Milkman, these were for a terms glossary we were working on.

Thanks
