What to log to create bespoke statistics viewer similar to Google Analytics
Firstly I am not looking to make something as comprehensive as Google Analytics, but it would be good to make something that could evolve over time to replace it as I am not a fan of it's JavaScript implementation.
At the moment I just need some ideas of what information to log from my visitors. I am already planning on logging information like User Agent, IP Address, Hostname, Date/Time visiting, etc. What other stuff should I log?
I'm going to be launching the site that this is for this week, so haven't got time to actually develop the stats viewer yet, but I want to try and log stuff from the beginning that I can then later view.
Please don't just recommend me 3rd party things like Mint. I want to create this bespoke, the wheels already out there aren't round enough and are all the wrong colour . Though if you have seen any web statistics things I could look at for inspiration, then please include them for consideration.
