Use your ISPs email account?

I really dunno why anyone would use HotMail or any free email service for important emails :/

Fair enough m8.

Doesn't HotMail have a subscription service? ie you pay them money and they increase the mailbox size etc?

fastmail.fm

this is THE BEST...okay okay...it's hard to judge what is THE BEST...but it sure is damn near it.

Pay for an account, and you can make sure SPAM stays away too. :)

BTW, I am no affiliate or friend to the owners.

Try out fastmail (http://www.fastmail.fm/) -- you will like it. They also have a guest account (which is free, but has less space, less bandwidth, and other limitations). I have been using them for 1 year, and absolutely love it. And they also provide SSL access. You can find all features of fastmail (across the various membership levels)here (http://www.fastmail.fm/docs/pricingtbl.html). A bit of selfishnes, but please do mention my name "rakhesh" in the referrer field when you sign up. :)

Another service that I use is runbox (http://www.runbox.com/). Not as many features as fastmail, but lots more bandwidth and space for the same cost. A list of their features is here (http://docs.runbox.com/en/info/default.doc). You can signup for runbox by clicking here (http://1055.runbox.com/mail/signup) (this link ensures that I am the referrer). They don't have SSL access, so that may be a problem for you. They have a 30 day trial period, with a fully functional account (all features, that is).

Both these services have their own discussion forums also. That is avaliable at emaildiscussions.com (http://www.emailaddresses.com/forum/).

Thanks,
Rakhesh

Using your isp mail account would work best, as all the connections will be on the isp network... not traveling across different networks.

That + TLS + PGP = pretty secure

If you have a DSL connection, or cable connection you can run your own mail locally.

Just make sure your ISP isn't blocking the port and you're set.

This works with dynamic IP's also, as well as dialups.

Just go over your limit and read the e-mail they send. They've pulled all the links from their sites about the service.

Stunnel SMTP over SSH and run SPOP3 to gather mail, using GPG to encrypt in/out, and have the SMTP located in Korea, using AOL to download the messages to your home computer, which would be in Russia, running Mac OSX.
