SSL Certificates

I want to hear everyone thoughts on having SSL Cerftificate on your billing section of your website? What are some advantages to having it? Do customers care about SSL? Thanks!

We had a potential customer complain about the fact we did not offer them recently. So I'd say some people care but most do not. As far as advantages it's another revenue stream.

It is for a safer transaction. Without it, potential customers who knows about with and without SSL certs, like many of us here on WHT, who know that it is an important factor, will not only dislike it, and may spread the news negatively..

We have seen an increase in revenue directly related to SSL needs. We resell SSL certs and make our margins off that but also as most customers requiring SSL need dedicated IP hosting or other features as in website development help we have seen an increase in these Product offers also.
Security is an important issue on everyones mind these days and it will not slow down. SSL certs are a way to tap into that security market.

I think half of the people (HI TONY READ THE POST !) misread what he asked. He's asking if enabling SSL on his billing is a good idea.
The answer is YES. You should always have your billing system force SSL (HTTPS) to make sure the clients information is indeed secure and encrypted. This isn't only good business practice, but many of your clients will appreciate the extra step knowing their data is being securely transferred.
You can get a SSL license for about $20/year for a single domain - get one now and force your billing to utilize it.

assuming you are talking about adding ssl to your own web site....
Rapid ssl is currently 14.95/year for their basic ssl cert
I would definatly reccomend using ssl for your signup process and possibly for your control panel login as well.

You can get RapidSSL from Namecheap for $12.88/yr, which is a really good deal

You are correct I am not asking if I should offer SSL I am asking if its a good idea to have it enabled. Also guys please don't go off topic I am also not asking for pricing on SSL.

I think it is a must to have SSL on your billing section and I for one would never use any company that did not.

Ask yourself this...
If my billing system isn't secure, are my servers?
Without a doubt you need SSL on all billing systems. If I went to go order from you, then I would stop the order process because it's not secure, then it would lead me to believe that your servers are not secure either.

Use a RapidSSL wildcard, it secure the whole domain, which means you browsing the whole site is safe! Its only about $100.
