This might not be the place for this post, but i'm just hoping maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

I've got an HP Pavilion running a dual boot with Caldera Openlinux and WinMe. I use Mediaone for my cable connection and have not been able to get this to work with Linux. I'm assuming this can be done some way or another. Any ideas?

Thanks :)

If I remember Mediaone is basically Roadrunner. I it is all you should need to do is configure Linux to obtain an IP via a DHCP server, however, this will only work if you are using an ethernet version. If your cable router connects via USB then I am not sure how you will go about hooking this up.

best deal is using the IP information from windows (IP address, subnet mask, dns server, gateway) and then manually configuring the network in linux. some cable modems do not work with dhcp I guess...

I have a Comcast cable modem, and works fine.

I've tried manually configuring it using the windows setting, no luck there. I recently switched computers and had to call mediaone (roadrunner) and give them the new MAC address in order to reactivate it on windows. I'm thinking this works differently on Linux and it's not allowing the connection? If I wanted the connection on two computers i'd have to call and have the other activated at an additional charge, but this is just a dual boot.
