They could be considered different because phpBB2 is a complete rewrite.

If someone asks for a list of OS's how many times would you list Windows?
AntiSpamHosts 09-10-2002, 01:00 AM At least 6, I suppose: 3.1, 95, 98, 2000, ME, XP.
Although there is a couple versions of XP, SE of 98, lots of 2K, etc...

Its all windows. XP is just 2k with a gui designed by fisher price and 2k is "based on NT technology". Those are not totally rewritten code.
Its all phpBB. But to each their own. :)
If anything, there shoule be multiple ones for UBB as they make several different version concurrently. First there was WWWThreads, which was bought out by Infopop Corp. They now call it UBB.threads. There is alos UBB.classic as well as UBB.x in additon to OpenTopic. All are current products with varying levels of service, features, and business models.

My prof always goes on a tangent about how pretty XP is...

- fast
- lots of utilities, screen theme, languages
- can customiz a lot
- easy to get MODs
- php instead of cgi
- emm..what else ?
;)

filburt1 10-31-2002, 08:54 PM Yabb SE (powered by PHP, I believe Yabb is only Perl)

AKA Candy coated, sugar frosted, sprinklized GUI :D
MoSupaFly 10-31-2002, 09:58 PM Well techincally... Windows 3.x wasn't an OS. They still ran on top of DOS.
Win95 still had DOS 7.0 but it took over once it booted up so it really was an OS.
I'm not sure about WinNT 3.x/4 if they were OSs on their own or ran ontop of DOS since I never used them.
Heh... just thought I'd throw this in. :D

Indeed:
Windows NT 3.51 = 3.51
4.0 = 4.0
5.0 = Windows 2000
5.1 = Windows XP
