I didnt quite know where to place this post, but I was wandering if anyone had any infomation on how ISP's that have cable speed connect to the internet, as I am curious about how it all functions.

I would like to see how it works so I can have my own personal DSL (what ever you like to call it) and then run the servers etc off of it, but not to beome a full ISP like there are alot of infomation about being a ISP for dialup users.

Basically can anyone suggest some sites with infomation of how the companies that supply High Speed internet access, connect to the net without using another ISP...SO listing all hardware etc...

Please email me at yodds4013@hotmail.com with any infomation or advice you can offer to me...

BTW before you comment on my bad spelling, I am 16 years of age and I live in the UK!! (Just incase you had any queries!!)

Hope you can help

I posted about this before but to my GUESS if you wanted to run your own high speed stuff, you would have to get with a company thats on the backbone, as you cant actually run it yourself. Otherwise, youd be spending millions in laying your own fiber lines, hardware, warehouse or datacenter, etc etc etc

I just lease a connection from the phone company lol and do whatever :)

ok, well all I want is the hardware side of it, maybe most of the stuff can be created, taking years at it can do the trick!

heres an idea.....its 128 thousand or 62 thousand i forgot to dig and run 1600 feet of fiber optics. thats enough $ to buy the hardware alone and thats not even a mile. so its worth it to lease it from a company. to much hardware involved, more then i can think of to list, servers, systems, backup systems, coolers, wiring, networking, routers and hubs, look on google on networking issues get the basics
