I am a customer of AdultHosting.com. I've been with them for a few months.

When I first signed up with them service was good. My site was hosted on a server in Colorado on a multi-homed uplink. Most of their traffic was running through TimeWarner Telecom.

About a week ago everything turned to crap. The server is constantly down and my site statistics never update.

I found out what happened. WithOUT informing us, Adulthosting.com has moved its customers to new servers that are on a single link to Cogent.

Cogent is a discount backbone provider that has been heavily criticized for its pricing/performance. After one week on Cogent I can finally understand what others have been complaining about.

I've gotten nothing but lies and the run around from AdultHosting's staff about this problem.

I'm Outta there!

Any suggestions for a reasonably priced, stable Adult hosting company that is NOT on a Cogent link?

I would look around but I would not specifically looks for a host that ONLY hosts adult content.. There are plenty of "normal" everyday hosts that allow adult content just do not boast about it.. I would suggest first looking for 3 or 4 good hosting providers then look over there AUP and see if they allow adult content or not. If you cannot find it in there you can always shoot a mail to sale@ or support@ and ask them. I never did understand why so called "adult" hosts get 2x or 3x more than regular hosting companies.. Yes I understand the traffic and such but if you sell X amount of bandwidth there should not be a problem as long as they do not go over and if they do they are willing to pay for overages. This is all providing the adult content is legal.

I need to step up here again and point you to cyprusmedia.biz

We suggest any of our customers or resellers they use this company for adult hosting.

I got a chance to speak to one of the owners the other day. To there advantage they have many powerful servers.

Offering Cogent Bandwidth its the only way that they can offer 70 GB BW at $50 per month, otherwise it would be something like $140-180 or you can go lower getting a RS server for $99 per month with 400 GB BW

It's a small site and doesn't generate anywhere near that amount of traffic.

It's Adult not Porn. There is a difference but many providers (ones that want to sell accounts but don't want you to actually use any bandwidth) don't make that distinction.

I'm not at all interested in RS. I've known too many people that have had problems that still remain unresolved. Besides, as I understand it RS charges much higher rates for "Adult" content. The $99 special wouldn't be for me nor would I use anywhere near that amount of bandwidth.

Cogent seems horrible no matter how you want to justify it. If the site constantly goes down it isn't worth any amount of money or savings.

we offer mix bandwith providors. we have also cogent providor by it self.
Cogent isnt so bad.
We can give you a link to download and check it by yourself.
We can give you a mix bandwith with verio and williams included

If you want to avoid RS host, then do a traceroute to the host and look if it show "everyone net" ,"ev1" or "everyone internet" on it, if it does, then are host using RS servers.

I'm well aware of traceroute. That is the reason I have been ignoring the posts from Cyprus Media. They are just another company that is leasing a server at RS and reselling the bandwidth. That, and the fact that I feel it is in very bad taste to use this discussion forum as a means to push your business on everyone.

Well i dont agree with you .I agree that we have some servers at Rackshack. I know that many people have problems from rackshack because RS offer ONLY unmanage servers.
People buy from Rackshack because they think cheap and they dont think about how to manage a server.
And when they have a problem and Rackshack tells them that they cant support them they go and say bad words for RS

We have our staff to manage them.

If rackshack is bad why they are the top? Have you ever think about that?

I do not know any other part of the company due to the fact that i have nothing to do with it...

Maybe we should ask because i am interested in what other DCs and what servers they use too.

Adult site with low bandwidth shouldn't be a problem to any good host. Adult is NOT the same thing as porn. I guess a lot of people think that talking about sex is the same thing as porn, but it's not. We have a show in Sweden about sex and relasionships that wouldn't work in the US, and all it does is talk about how to work it out with your partner, when he doesn't like the sounds you make, and such. Information and help to adults, and the guests get free condoms to promote awareness about illnesses and unwanted babies.

If this is what you have Dragoon, look into webhosts and such in Sweden, Denmark, Norway or Finland.
