I know this is a forum for web hosting not web networking. But it seems to me that there are a lot of knowledgeable people within this forum.
My question is do any of you know Cisco firewalls or know of a nice forum like this one so I can post there

I have a contact at Cisco that can answer your questions.

The Cisco PIX is a joke, and i'm an avid supporter of most of the gear cisco makes.
The PIX is not much more than a PC.
Maybe checkpoint fw-1 on a nokia box...
It depends on your needs and budget.

Yeah, me too. Unfortunately, my clients do not want to spend the money. The pix501 is still better than the linksys for what I need it to do. Unless you might know of something else that might be better??
Thanks

The 501 does a nice job; you can also use a Cisco 806 router with the firewall feature set for a little more (I think the 806 might be a little faster). I use a 1605 with the firewall feature set and it works great.
I like all the Cisco I have, but it's tricky to get it all setup the first time.
I've never run across a forum for this equipment though, and when it comes to security and firewall rules, I suspect many may be a little reluctant to share what they do in a public forum, as I know that I personally feel that tends to make me more vulnerable.

Just a note here.

How much bandwidth is being pushed through this imaginary firewall?
I'm starting to think a *BSD box with ipfw would work for you.
Get a pair of NICs that have an onboard cpu (usually an i960) as well.
Intel makes some nice ones.
You also can make a home brew PIX, but that's illegal :)
