Last time I was at best buy I didnt see any alienware systems.. cbaker17 09-09-2002, 11:15 AM best buy was offering them on their websites... Phrozen 09-09-2002, 02:55 PM The local Best Buy here sells 'em too... RackNine 09-09-2002, 03:00 PM Alienware's a little expensive. It's much easier to find custom cases on the web and buy components from a wholesaler. For what AW charges you could get 10x the PC looking as good if not better. -Matt peteny 09-09-2002, 03:38 PM Anyone know any good places to get custom systems then? JFWS 09-09-2002, 04:06 PM Try a Local Computer Store Some of them are great. Also do you have Marketpro Computer Shows. Last time I was at best buy I didnt see any alienware systems.. of course people do, they are called gateway, dell, falcon northwest, emachines, etc etc. They are called OEMs. Originally posted by JFWS Try a Local Computer Store Some of them are great. The guy leaves at the end of the night. peteny 09-09-2002, 04:33 PM I meant websites that have BYO instead of OEM systems.. JFWS 09-09-2002, 04:46 PM Most of the marketpro computer show venders in our area have physical businesses in the area and are legit. JFWS 09-09-2002, 06:43 PM Dell has BYO but it is oriented toward business. I can't believe you can't find a local Master Builder. The guy who builds mine is an A-Open reseller and we trade his labor for mine. JFWS peteny 09-09-2002, 06:49 PM Nothing too good around here, that's why im trying to find a good place to buy on the internet.. Acronym BOY 09-09-2002, 06:54 PM googlegear custom pre-built: http://www.googlegear.com/jsp/SysCB.jsp build it yourself component: http://www.googlegear.com/jsp/Hardware.jsp I havent dealt with anyone else, so I can not recomend anyone in good faith. Sorry. peteny 09-09-2002, 07:04 PM Ok.. thanks.. I'm checking that out right now, could'nt find it on there earlier.. I see it now.. anyone know any other places I can go for this? JFWS 09-09-2002, 07:08 PM Check Out this local company based in Northern Va. USA http://www.advanced2000.com JFWS peteny 09-09-2002, 07:13 PM Same problem as the most other places.. Not fully customizable (Nothing above 1.8 GHZ processor..) Nadav 09-09-2002, 08:44 PM I think of alienware as overpriced sweet machines ;) The only machine I do like is their gaming laptop. Falcon Northwest is very good, but not less expensive then alienware. If you're building, I suggest www.newegg.com for parts. Phrozen 09-09-2002, 09:05 PM If you want a fully customized system, but aren't comfortable throwing the pieces together yourself, you might want to check out http://directron.com You can pick out all of the parts you want and you can have them assemble it, test and burn it in, load the OS, drivers etc. for $39. Acronym BOY 09-09-2002, 09:25 PM Thanks Prozen, I knew I was forgetting something! Thanks! :) peteny 09-09-2002, 10:37 PM Ok thanks for all the help! If anyone else knows of more places please let me know.. Thanks :) web docta 09-09-2002, 10:54 PM Originally posted by peteny Anyone know where I can find a alienware reseller or buy a system comparable to an alienware? thanks Alienware is very nice but expensive. I suggest that you do a little research and build your own computer. You can get a kick-butt system for a lot less than you'll spend on alienware rigs. Visit the Amd Motherboard Forums (http://www.amdmb.com) and you can get lots of help there. I built my first rig last year and I would have spent maybe twice as much on an Alienware system. peteny 09-09-2002, 11:02 PM I found a place with *Excellent prices*.. I built a 2.8 ghz system with 1 gb of ram and top of the line video, sound and everything else @ http://myjackrabbit.com/.. check out their Gamer System section.. If anyone knows anymore places before I buy this one let me know, this seems like the best deal yet though.. Thanks for the help. Acronym BOY 09-10-2002, 12:35 AM They have abslutely no reseller rating at all: http://resellerratings.com/reseller_list.pl?browse=m&nosearch=my%20jack%20rabbit This isnt necessarily a bad thing, but just to let you know. |
