Yup. it's on the list. As with all the other control panels or themes yet to be done, announcements will be made here at WHT.

I would say as an estimate sometime in the next 7-10 days for the default cPanel theme.

Hey Chris, you're beating us to the punch... ;)

A WHM series for resellers is in the scheduled project list. But that will be after all the cPanels, Hsphere and Ensim end user control panels are done.

vito
09-09-2002, 02:38 PM
Hi hosticle. I have Plesk tutorials already available, but they are end-user based. If you are offering access to a reseller control panel so that I can get screen shots, that's very generous, and if it's OK, I will take you up on that when it's time to address that series.

Thank you. :)

cPanel BlueLagoon
Plesk

Other series to follow soon:

cPanel Default
Ensim
Hsphere
WHM reseller
Plesk reseller
FrontPage

And remember, introductory prices at 50% is for limited time.

I have received several requests at www.DemoDemo.com from web hosts to produce Flash tutorials that will show their resellers how to perform the various tasks in WebHostManager. The problem is I know basically how to get around in WHM, but not enough to authoritatively assemble an entire set of instructional tutorials.

So I'm looking for the wisdom of someone who is very well versed in all the features and functions in WHM. Ideally, I just want to be able to have a couple of telephone sessions to walk through WHM. I thinks a couple of sessions is all it'll take, considering that I know the basics.

In my existing reseller account, I already have WHM access. However, I don't really want to take screenshots of my account showing my clients. So whoever will be assisting me in this project needs to be able to provide me with a temporary WHM account where I can simulate all the WHM functions. This need not be a "live" reseller account. I just want to be able to perform all the functions and take screenshots.

In return, I will provide a full set of logo-branded WHM tutorials that you can use to show your resellers how to get around in WHM. Approximate value of the tutorials is around $60.

Anyone interested please reply in this thread.

Thanks.

Vito,

I have seen the flash tutorial for iconic but it is only version 4 of Cpanel.

Do you have plans for Cpanel 5 in the pipeline?

vito
09-11-2002, 07:16 AM
net-trend:

When I log into cPanel4 and cPanel5, I do not see any difference other than the version number at the top of the page. Icons seem the same, layout seems the same, functionality seems to be the same. So as far as I can see, it doesn't make much sense to have a different tutorial series for each of them.

Please tell me if I have missed something regarding the difference between them. :)

Vito

net-trend
09-11-2002, 07:24 AM
Yes there is a difference. There is added functionality for some parts of it. Mainly the email accounts setup and change password screen now allows quota modification.

net-trend
09-11-2002, 07:25 AM
Also, since this is a paid product it would be nice if you could put up tutorials of current version control panels and provide updates when they are ready. :)

vito
09-11-2002, 07:33 AM
net-trend:

Hmm. I will have to go through v5 and make changes to the tutorials where there is a difference. Thanks for the heads up. ;)

SuperDon:

Thanks for the offer, and for setting me up with the demo account. I will speak with you later today to walk through all the functions.

vito

vito

net-trend:

I went through all the cPanel (iconic) tutorials and I see that the only one that is different in features is the one for creating a POP account. It doesn't seem to make much sense to create an entirely separate set of tutorials for the two versions just because of a couple of changes. I don't think many hosts will appreciate having to look at buying a new set if/when they upgrade their cPanel licence from v4 to v5.

So here's what I've done. I've incorporated v5 screenshots into the existing tutorial, showing the added feature of quota modification. This way it can be used for either version. Makes sense?

When you revisit the site to see the changes I made in the tutorial, make sure you refresh when you're in the movie. Or, as in my case, I had to clear my cache before I could see the change.

net-trend, I appreciate your input. It helps me improve my products. :)

Vito,

That is great, how you are addressing such changes.

Now, if let's say CPanel get's updated again with extra features, are you going to provide free updates or must they be purchased again?

vito
09-11-2002, 12:03 PM
Well, I always try to accomodate the customer, but in the case of control panel version updates, I'm afraid I'd have to charge for them. I'm sure you will appreciate that providing an update means a complete re-build of the entire movie. If I was charging alot more for the product to begin with, it would be possible to build in free updates. But at the current price level, it is impossible. So even if you have to buy a whole new set of tutorials, given the affordability of it, hopefully it's not such a big pill to swallow...

Besides, the control panels don't have version updates that often, do they?

And given the amount of money you're going to save by having considerably fewer support tickets to handle, the tutorials will pay for themselves many times over, right? :D

Vito

Thanks for answering my questions Vito, I am really considering purchasing a few they look really professional and I am sure they will help and guide some of my customers. Another question though; When the flash movie ends it says ‘Powered by DemoDemo.com’ will that statement appear on the version I purchase? Can it be removed? :)

vito
09-11-2002, 02:03 PM
Yes, at this point, and at this price level, the "Powered byDemoDemo.com" image will remain. Part of the reason that the tutorial prices are so low is that the DemoDemo branding is included in the final frame. If you prefer, you can request that it be removed, but that will mean an additional $20 per set of 10 tutorials.

If that is the way you wish to go, simply select that option in the order form.

Keep in mind that although I also own a web hosting company, I do not include any links to that site from DemoDemo.com. So there should be no worries of your customers being persuaded to go elsewhere (if that was in fact your concern).

Hey you did not give us that option.. I want my money back.. just kidding..... Hey I just wanted to let everyone know that I think we were one of the first to use these when they first came out and our support questions pertaining to these items have dropped in half and we can have been just pointing to them for the ones that forget to look and just submit a ticket about a question that we have a tutorial on.

So far they have been great..

So when are you going to come out with more,

FrontPage tutorials (basic stuff)
FTP tutorials (basic)

You know what we also need?? A tutorial on how to trying to find the answer before sending in a support ticket. :D

Hey, Robert. I was certain you'd notice a difference. I'm just surprised the difference was noticeable so quickly. You must have done a great job making the tutorials accessible in your Help area.

Those are definitely on the list. I believe the next one to be released, though, will be WebHostManager Reseller series. To be safe, get yourself onto the newsletter, ,and you'll be sure to be notified when new releases come out.

Hi vito,

Looks very promising and an excellent add-on to support the FAQ section in Flash if they wish to view it.

I am interested and look forward in the default theme for Cpanel but could you advice whether customers will have any free dates and support just in case and perhaps have a Forum later, mainly to cater for this particular project like phpManager for existing customers/members to interact or be informed of any new products or upgrade at a special discounted price whenever available.

Thanks

Hi cactus:

The cPanel (default theme) is already available on the site. Released yesterday.

Hmm. A forum. I never really thought about that. A forum certainly wouldn't have to be there to assist with installation of the product. Putting movies on your site is as simple as linking to the htm pages I provide. But I guess a forum could be possible for sharing ideas on new topics, or getting notification of new releases, etc.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will have to give thought to whether I will be putting a forum on the site.

Hi Brett:
Thank you. Yes, your order was received and is being processed. Please understand it does take time to properly embed your logo in all the tutorials. We want it to look good, right? ;)

Although on the site it states that orders are processed within 24-48 hours, I understand you are anxious to get your product. So every effort is made to process orders in less time.

Brett, I'm hoping to send your tutorials later on this evening.

Thanks for your order.

I have fell in love with these tutorials and this is an AWESOME idea vito but one more question are you going to be able to open it up on a similiar price scale for customised Control Panels? Im referring to hosts that customised the Cpanel to fit their website themes. You will take their CPanel look and build the tutorial off of that

Thanks in advanced for the reply

Hi NiteHawk:

I'm pleased you like the concept. :)

Yes, I can produce custom tutorials tailored to a specific customer's needs. However, as I'm sure you can appreciate, considerable effort goes into the original production. And if it is not resellable to others, the entire cost of production has to be built into the cost of that project. So custom projects cannot be priced anywhere near the off-the-shelf products available to all. You may visit http://www.demodemo.com/customtutorials.html for more information or to submit a request for a custom quotation.

Thanks for the question, NiteHawk. It was a good one... ;)

We use the Bluelagoon theme for cpanel and also cpanelgui from cpanelgui.com (http://www.cpanelgui.com) for some of our high-end packages. Do you have any plans for making tutorials for cpanelgui yet? If not may I suggest it, we would purchase these from you too when available.

ADVANCE NOTICE
Just thought I'd let you know of another set of tutorials coming up.
For all you cPanel users out there, this one's for you. We have just come to an agreement with cpskins.com. They are about to launch their newest product- the cPanel Auto-Installer. This will integrate into any cPanel version or theme you have. It will, with just a couple of clicks, allow your customers to automatically install any of a number of popular scripts onto their site. There are 16 scripts including PerlDesk, phpbb2, InvisionBoard, osCommerce, php-Nuke, PostNuke and AdvancedPoll. A great product.

We will be producing tutorials for the the installation of all the scripts. Now here you have a choice on how to link to the tutorials. You can link to them by conventional links from a page on your site. Or, if you prefer, I can supply you with a doc file that you simply drop into cPanel, and all the tutorials are automatically linkable right from within the Auto-Installer GUI. Very cool, IMO.

Stay tuned...

Vito
