Hello everybody,
I'm posting from Italy, so please be patient for my english.
I would like to get some opinions about a new kind of hosting we are trying to do.
My company is not in the hosting business, in fact we do services in the Engineering, GIS and Web site developing.
At the moment we are activating this new service, that has to do with GIS. I think it would be correct to call it MapHosting Service.
What we have in mind is to give the opportunity to put online any kind of vector/raster data with it's db without the efforts of the high software/hardware costs, development and speedy connections. The idea is: you give the digital cartography and we put it online. We add a mapservice on our server and give the URL of the page to the customer to be put in their website.
Locally the market is quite interesting (mainly small/medium public administrations), what do you think about making it globally?
There's a test server at http://www.gisengine.com (at the moment is only in italian...).
Thank you in advance for your comments.
