Hi all...

(I hope this is the right forum to post this...)

I use Click Bank to process our credit card payments, and am using them for last few years, without a single complain.

But, they charge $1 + 7.5% per sale. Also $50 for transferring the funds (in lumpsum) each time to my bank in India.

Now, I have got a company in India, who can also process international credit cards. But they will charge your credit card in Indian Rupees.

It works like this, if you click on a price or order link (say $1.00 or Order Now), it will show you that your credit card is going to be charged INR 48.xx. They include a currency converter so that you can check the respective value in your own currency. The server is verisign certified.

As most of my clients are international (mainly from US and UK), I'm little worried if new international visitors will like charging in INR. My interest is to save $50 on transferring the funds plus that $1 per sale.

How would you feel in that condition? Will you buy or leave my site?

Regards

Dude I have no clue. Many people are wary of buying from any international sellers. Then again, thats just me.

It wouldn't bother me. Then again, I've been buying stuff online since 1995 so maybe I'm not the norm :)

If your clientele was in Continental Europe or Asia, I would say no problem. You might be ok with your UK customers, too. However, Americans might pose a problem.

Most Americans have never dealt with any type of foreign currency. Some do not even know that other countries have different currency (hopefully internet users know better, though). Other Americans are aware that different currency is used throughout the world but are unaware of how the conversions work (yes, even if you spell it out to them). Finally, you might find more chargebacks from this country since many will look at their credit card statement, see the amount in Rupees, and freak out at the high number.

It's too bad because you should be able to charge in whatever currency you want, since the charges will be converted anyway.

Is WorldPay an option? I'm not sure how expensive they are. I agree, the Click Bank charges you described are too high.

couldn't you put in a script thaat would automatically convert the INR to the currency of the user? or maybe jus t display it always in INR, dollars, and euro's?

Hi...

WorldPay has a very high set-up. I hope, HostCharge.com is good enough, and, quite a few hosts are using its services. Though I do not know how are their services...can anybody put some lights?

Hostcharge is pretty pricey now as well based upon the email from them the other day. $49 a month plus the transaction fees.

Why don't you setup a merchant account for the locals and anyone who doesn't mind paying in Rupees, and an account with Revecom 2checkout or Hostcharge for the others. Quote the two prices on your site and give the customer the choice.

That's sort of what I do. Australians can pay by cheque, money order, direct deposit and the like and pay in AUD. If they pay by cc, it's in USD.

Is there any chance you could open a bank account in the US, UK, or Canada? Then you could use a plain old merchant account, much cheaper. I'm not sure what it would require for you to do so, nor how expensive it would be to take money out in rupees to pay yourself and your staff. But even if there are initial costs, they might pay off in the long run.

You have to have an address I believe in the US to open a bank account. He'd probably also have to register a company in the US which would also mean paying for a registered agent and so forth.

Hi all...

Opening a US bank account is not possible for me. I tried that long ago. If I could, I could accept payments through paypal only!

joshp:

I don't think hostcharge.com charges any monthly fees. They have two plans where they charge a set-up fee, and the other one (basic) has no set-up and no monthly, but 8% commission. They state that they do not hold back any amount and their international transfer fee is only $13 (comparing to $50 for click bank). The $49 charge you mentioned, is for one-time set-up fee for their Debit Card (the Debit Card also carries some monthly fees, withdrawal fees etc. etc.)

If anyone could put some more light on HostCharge, how're their services etc, would be nice.

This from an email received from them last Thursday:

> $49 monthly fee, fixed, billed to your credit/bank card.
> $0 setup fee per account
> $0 MCC access fee
> 4.0% and 50c discount rate.
> Setup accounts instantly, NO PAPERWORK TO GET STARTED!

*************************************

Whether they have updated their website or not I don't know, but that's the prices mentioned in the email. Note they are not calling it an MCC access fee anymore, just a fixed monthly fee.

There is always a variation in US dollars and INR. You will never have stagnant pricing which may annoy your users. Right now 1USD = 49.36 INR . A week back it was 51. If you have customer base in USA and UK I will not suggest this.

Sorry no, you are absolutely wrong.
As it states in the newsletter we sent out that is the pricing for our ISO reseller plan which will be released later this month, there have been -no- rate changes to our regular plans!

Hi there.
I'd just like to clarify since you may have been given some incorrect information, the rates for our pricing have -not- changed, that is for the Basic, Direct and Select packages, they are still the same.

If you have any questions feel free to post here or contact me personally.
