however we do have a restriction on site content.. but were not very strict

for instance we only remove sites which are only using their space for storage and have no actual website
such as a directory full of zip files and one html page

- it's plain to see who they use for their Network Connection and content provided by them
- people of all ages (even minors) will be attracted and possibly use the services
- there are lots of threads at WHT why "unlimited" is a misnomer and potentially false advertising
- the pop-up Exit page is an Evil & Insidious method to escape their own culpability

IMHO, "hostultra.com" is not a nice or recommended place to host any Web site.

never come onto this forum with an unlimited bandwidth offer. we have seen so many offers come along, people get stung, then gripe because they weren't warned.

nothing is, or can be unlimited. you wouldn't run this program at a loss, therefore you must draw a line at some point, therefore its not unlimited.

HostUltra, this isn't intended to be a flame, as I actually need this for a client (who also happens to be a good friend) - I figure it will be cheaper for him to host with you than with me:

He is part of a popular regional band that posts all his mp3s and photogalleries on the website....

Bandwidth has been ranging anywhere between 90GB and 120GB for the past few months, and growing at a steady rate (my estimates would place it at reaching the 250 GB level by January, and 350GB by march of next year) If he gets nationwide attention, this would most likely jump to 400GB by the end of the year. He's one of those artists that likes to spread his music for free....

As for diskspace - he's got about 100 mp3s (most of them live recordings) at about 9 MB apiece. His image gallery also contains thousands of high quality images - totalling about 3 GB total.

I'd prefer he get a written contract from you because he is not dealing with me directly (it's a trust situation) so I will need your phone and faxnumber to forward to him.

the format of the file is not the point .zip .mp3 etc.. doesnt matter
you really need to have a look at the terms first so you understand better, it will answer all your questions.

we offer unlimited space and bandwidth, as long as you obey our terms of what kinds of sites we dont allow, sites using their resources for downloads is not allowed, allowing these kind of sites would make us loose money, and thats not good for anyone, no money = no server
again, read the terms it will explain everything

the max filesize is 1MB, segmented archives or any other way to try and bypass or work around this limit is not allowed

I've just read hostultra . com / tos . html and pretty much it says;

-You can't host anything that's not an html file..
just text (see * below), no pictures ("personal photo albums" are prohibited!)

- "Files larger than 1 Mb cannot be uploaded" ("deleted automatically without notice")
-no files of video or audio type (including but not limited to.. )
-no software distribution (freeware, shareware, etc.. )
actually, you already can't distribute software from your site anyway,
'cause we don't allow files over 1MB..
(furthermore, you can't split the file and make it several smaller files to get around this limitation as "spanned archives such as such as .z01 .rar .ace" aren't allowed)
-no download sites of any kind
(unlimited bandwidth but I can't have anything for download! and, they charge .25/gb bandwidth (which is unlimited) THAT's how he's "making huge profits", no doubt)
-no MLM

Not only can you not use hostultra to host any sites with the above mentioned criteria,
you also cannot link to any sites that host that kinda stuff
that's understandable and pretty much standard for the porn/crackz, but..
can't link to sites that are primarily 'download sites'??
can't set up a homepage that links to 'my friends' homepage cause he has pictures on his site???

i have a hostultra account u cant even use because u get caught in popup hell , when u try and exit. worst even yet one of his sponsor try to dl an exe file on u . thats just plain low. hostultra knows about it but still allows it. thatswhy hes profitible, each click/popup hes getting paid. it be a good host without those dirty tactics

we removed those about 3 weeks ago
there are only normal ads now and only 2 popups non spawning

well i just got at least 2 popups.and one wanna make hostultra my home page and still one hidden exployer page that wont let me close it out yet, so thiers still an ad script running/ i might have to go the usaul c-a-delete to get outa host ultra

update:

ended up with 8 popups that i could count, so its still popup hell
