Hi, I have several accounts on registrar and im 100% sure that when a domain expires you have a period of 30 days to renew the domain. At least for .com, .net and org im sure of that.
I had 2 .mobi domains in Godaddy that expired the 27 of last month and Godaddy put those domains on the 9 October already on a redemption period and wants to me to pay 180$ to renew this 2 domains.
I found this particularly strange since this domains are both premiun domains I registered on the .mobi rush.
I want to know how much time someone has to renew a .mobi domain and if this is actually legal what Godaddy is doing. ResellerClub always gives me 30 days to renew a domain and Godaddy only 10 or is this just because they are .mobi domains? I have the impression Godaddy did this on purpose to auction the domains since i never saw registrar that puts domains after 10 days in the redemption period.

You have rights on your domain up to the expiry date. Depending on the TOS of your registrar they can delete them directly afterward. You have to be aware that the registrar gets charged the renewal fee directly after the domain expires, only when they delete the domain in the following 45 days (for all gTLD) they get this money back.
I think it's fair enough of the registrars to delete domain earlier, but I prefer if they have a clear policy and would publish this one.
