View Full Version : Can Anyone Recomend Live Chat Software?
gavo2o 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM Hey, I am looking for some live chat software to handle sales and support and I am woundering if anyone here can recomend me some good and hopefully cheap live chat software please?
So far traffic is currently little but I am expecting it to increase once I start a marketing push which is why I am after the live chat software.
I would also prefer live chat software that has no ongoing monthly cost if possible.
Have you looked at helpcenterlive or craftysyntax?
gavo2o 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM Thanks for the quick responce, helpcenterlive fits my requirements perfectly.
chennaihomie 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM Livezilla would do great. It has all the features and its open source!
empresasdehosting 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM www.triolive.com
Rageki-John 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM If your looking for a free live chat software, I would recommend Crafty Syntax as well. I've used it in the past and I believe that it's a lot better than Help Center Live in terms of features and stability.
Edit: I've just looked at Livezilla and I might consider using that in the future as well. Thanks chennaihomie :).
gavo2o 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM Just an update, I have installed Help Center Live into my site but I am looking at Crafty Syntax and might switch over if Help Center Live gives me any issues.
ServerBoost 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM We are using phplive, but are now thinking of switching to another one. I send them a mail 1,5 month ago to reactivate the download link, but still haven't received a reply. When we first ordered the software it all went fine, but now it looks like they disappeared or something. I also reported a bug to them in the application but still no answer on that also. It's already been a while since a new update has been released so I don't know if those guys are still taking it seriously.
itsk00dy 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM livezilla . com is a great live chat support system its awsome dude you can edit everything out its great
GixxerPC 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM livezilla is a great piece of software.
It rivals Liveperson, and it is free.
huckyboy 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM i've been using livezilla for just 2 weeks. this was my first live chat software btw. in those 2 weeks, i had almost 8 inquiries and got 2 clients :)
without the live chat, nobody even bothered to send in their inquiries through email, and getting a sale push through is very hard.
peter_anderson 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM Another Livezilla fanboy here :)
CyberHostPro 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM hi
I personally use LivePerson (www.liveperson.com) as I love it!
some other apps ive used:
SightMax - installs on a windows server, well priced. www.sightmax.com based on ASP.net 2.0
Kayako - www.kayako.com Helpdesk software with live chat based on PHP
Atul-JodoHost 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM We had used liveperson for years and pretty much satisfied with it.
I see a problem when livechat application being on the same server as website. If the server is down for any reason, customer has no means of contacting. In most cases this is very important time when customer needs livechat support.
Solution to this is either installs it on other server in same datacenter with full redundancy or on a server in some other data center.
If the budget is higher, use a livechat which sells as service like liveperson.
space2host 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM Yes LiveZilla is a very good software easy to communicate with clients

If the server is down, customers dont have a way to click on the button to initiate the live chat.
peter_anderson 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM If the server is down, customers dont have a way to click on the button to initiate the live chat.
lol, that's true :D
There is no point in spending loads on live chat. I mean, no client looks and says 'that company uses a free live chat system, i don't want to use them!' - do they?
SCZ-Mark 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM I would reccomend crafty syntax
Atul-JodoHost 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM If the server is down, customers dont have a way to click on the button to initiate the live chat.
This correct if live chat is for sales only. What if the company also provides customer support through live chat.
If the server is down with live chat, customer will be desperate to reach the company. Not having live chat facility will make them more desperate.
tuxpack 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM Hi,
Just checked Livezilla and it seems good :-)
Ceetoe 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM I also recommend Livezilla and the price is hard to beat. :D
Ilya74 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM +1 for LiveZilla.
HostRefugee-Vince 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM For any of those using other solutions...such as Crafty Syntax, PHPLive ect... I would highly recommend looking into LiveZilla.
I have used a few other free livechats, and just heard about LiveZilla a few days ago. All I can say, is I absolutely love it.
It looks extremely professional and works flawlessly. The professional look is what alot of the other free livechats lack (ex.. CSLH (absolute horrible design IMO).
hclloveh 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM LivePerson is a good and professional, but don't stable with other Unicode font (ex: Vietnamese when i try to use).
LiveZilla looks so professional and i like their design so much. Clean and easy to use.
LiveZilla has all the features you need from what I see.
But installing LiveZilla, we must install on a server with PHP right?
It can be installed on a Linux server, but the computer that is using the chat client needs to be Windows?
(eg. I use install LiveZilla on CentOS. My laptop is Windows, hence I can use LiveZilla.)
dotcomUNDERGROUND 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM Ill recommend LiveZilla too.

The "server" end stays on your php powered web server. And the "client" side sits on your windows based pc.
Dont let the single .exe installer get you confused. The installer basically let you extract php files on your local disk so you can upload them to your server or even act as built in ftp client to upload the files (even set permissions) to the server.
dotcomUNDERGROUND 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM I mean, no client looks and says 'that company uses a free live chat system, i don't want to use them!' - do they?
Many will do actually I guess.
A company which is not willing to spend a few bucks on its support system, I wont comfortably expect great support from them.
If I see a site using LivePerson chat, that will give me the impression that "they are in business"

But LiveZilla is an amazing LiveChat script, isn't it?
TigerHostBD 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM I also prefer Livezilla as a live support system. It has all the features I was looking for.For example, I can invite a visitor to chat while visiting our site. Again if any visitors wants to have a chat with my I get a notification in the desktop client. I think this feature helped me a lot for providing support to clients.
ashokuh 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM i am going to use livezilla , will see if it satifies me

Yes ill make an exception for LiveZilla ;)
We are too moving from ProvideSupport to LiveZilla because it provides with everything the paid ProvideSupport.com does. Even better you get the chance to interact with the developers. I like the way LiveZilla people are willing to listen to the users.
LiveZilla is nothing (crap) like the previous free chat clients we tested :)

Don't know?
XFactorServers 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM We used Kayako for a few months then switched to Live Help as Kayako is expensive ($30-$40/Month) but then we switched back to Kayako as it's more feature rich.

As far as I know, Kayako LiveResponse is lacking quite some features, compared to others I've used before on the clients side.
JohnJ 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM From my experience ProvideSupport and Kayako LiveResponse are the two best. However, if you're looking to raise your budget, have a look at LivePerson.
SM-Dominic 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM We are using ProvideSupport it's a great product with lot of extra features :)

ProvideSupport is great for its price. The only thing I don't like about it is the user interface. I mean, the administrative interface is fine, but if I were a website visitor I would be turned away by the live chat's design. But that's just a personal preference.

You can customize the live chat design for quite some time now.
Don't know if you used it in that period of time?

Yep, I know that you can customize it, but you can only do that to a certain extent. I just like the looks of LiveResponse and LivePerson, because they look so clean and professional.

Hmmmm i looked at liveperson just now and i can't really see what would make them more clean and professional.
But well that's just a mater of taste ;)

Everything looks so smooth on it. It just looks so neat. :)
reca12 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM Take a look at Jerry Messenger (j-liveSupport.com)
We have been using it for almost a year. It is pretty good.
r0kawa 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM I would like to recommend http://www.zopim.com they still in private beta and will offering cheap price compare to other hosted environment (9 USD / month as I know). What best is the help window is less intrusive compare to others live help software (a-la Gtalk web based).
I use it on our webhosting at http://www.zenpipe.com

We have used Zopim in our site TigerHostBD.com but the chat system is made using flash and hosted in zopim.com's server. Sometimes the system becomes slow when you are talking with 3-4 persons at the same time. Yes you can also get notification in your MSN or yahoo if you are not logged in to this live support system.

Hi everyone, this is royston from zopim
r0kawa >> Thanks for the recommendation really appreciate it =)
TigerHostBD >> Thanks for your feedback about the system slowing down. While this isn't a problem for most of our customers, we'll try to replicate and fix this issue by the time we launch (might need to contact you for more detail). Meanwhile, you can opt to reply directly via IM. We're still testing it internally, but we can set it up for you if you'd like. Its really nifty ;p
If I'm allowed to pitch a little..
The focus of zopim live chat is simplicity and interface. Most live chat solutions pops up another browser window to handle chat sessions, leaving your customers alt-tabbing throughout the whole conversation while trying to surf and talk. We felt that chat should exist inline, within your webpage.. that's why we created the chat bar, resembling the gmail-gtalk interface. Its easy for your visitors to locate, yet unobtrusive.
Feel free to try us out while we're still in beta, we have a lot of crazy ideas in mind and are actively releasing features. Do give us your honest feedback, thanks!
Maars 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM LiveZilla is just a freeware. Its not opensource. So maybe, once their base grows, they will come up with licence fees.
Also now Crafty & HCL are also out with windows operator port though not very hightech.
habbolakehosting 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM I love LiveZilla its great for most companys.
Mike - Limestone 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM Kayako SupportSuite is a solid product. I recommend.

lifespeakers 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM We are currently using LivePerson and we are really comfortable with it. Its features are just excellent for our staff.
lemonwonder 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM Kayako SupportSuite is a solid product. I recommend.

Agreed. mbHost uses this, our customers and staff find this very easy to use. Kayako has two desktop applications worth installing, the first, Liveresponse, is what will alert you when a live chat is requested. You do the live chat through a native program, rather than a web based product. Also, you can view the movements of users and see details, eg. IP, Browser, Footprints, Current Page, Country, etc. Also has an in-built browser, which allows you to surf the staff control panel. It is a great little staff control center!
Also, InstaAlert is great if you have your support tickets integrated with your billing software (eg. WHMCS)
If your support tickets go through Kayako, a little notification will pop up on your screen when somebody submits a ticket, making it easy, and very fast to send responses!
Def go with Kayako!

Agreed, Kayako, best in my, and many opinions :)
bdnero 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM Livezilla would do great. It has all the features and its open source!
Free chat service can't be good for paid hosting company.

No you are wrong. LiveZilla is widely known as an open source PROFESSIONAL live chat software. It is as good as any paid ones, except for no 24/7 support.

It seems freeware not open source. Correct me if I wrong.
I didn't told its bad. Its good.
But just think from client side, you will get my point.
TigerHostBD 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM Free chat service can't be good for paid hosting company.
Can you explain your reply?
My point of view, a interested clients may have lot of questions in their mind regarding service provided by the hosting company and most of them are not interested to open a ticket with all their queries. So Live Chat System comes.
Again the clients (hosting or other sites) may face problems and no one wants to wait. When a client talks with his/her problem with a support representative he gets an assurance that his problem has been noted and will be taken care of. It is also helpful for a service providing site. Quick response means customer satisfaction. :)

Yes it is a freeware, its you that mentioned Open Source in the first place which makes me type that for no apparent reason..
No, even from the client's side, it will not make a difference too. You see, if they have no idea if LiveZilla is free or not, as long as it is good, they will not bother so much. If they know it is free, they should also know how good it is, isn't it?

I just quote another member reply and comments "Free chat service can't be good for paid hosting company." on "Livezilla would do great", I didn't write "Yes. It is open source but free chat service can't be good for paid hosting company."
According your way-
I know you have so many post, so I should know that you are good, reliable one.

Sorry I mistaken it..
Please please, this is completely different! What I said was if you know what LiveZilla is and how it works, it is ok. And what you've said is judging from the obvious, which is completely wrong!
bdnero 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM Anyone have Reseller or Sub-Reseller Account with Directi or With Registry who use LogicBox system should have this option to sale or to purchase for them self if their upper level not disabled the option.

A question, I have a linux server, I got a little confused by the responses talking about this, is it ok to run the livezilla server off of a linux server? But the desktop portion from my computer? (Windows)

Yes the LiveZilla server is Linux based & the Desktop Operator Client is Windows based. They don't have a Web-Based-Operator.
Also lonestar86, even i feel that LiveZilla may certainly come out with some fee plans once their base grows enough !!!
RandyE 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM Well, I am off work now, and I went to download filezilla, I get a message Service Unavailable. WTF is that?
RandyE 01-01-1970, 12:00 AM I mean livezilla lol, the site is down, anyone know where else to download it?

HostRefugee-Vince 11-20-2008, 10:08 PM For any of those using other solutions...such as Crafty Syntax, PHPLive ect...
CSLH (absolute horrible design IMO).
hclloveh 11-20-2008, 11:50 PM LivePerson is a good and professional, but don't stable with other Unicode font (ex: Vietnamese when i try to use).
My laptop is Windows, hence I can use LiveZilla.)
dotcomUNDERGROUND 11-21-2008, 04:53 PM Ill recommend LiveZilla too.

The "server" end stays on your php powered web server. And the "client" side sits on your windows based pc.
Dont let the single .exe installer get you confused. The installer basically let you extract php files on your local disk so you can upload them to your server or even act as built in ftp client to upload the files (even set permissions) to the server.
dotcomUNDERGROUND 11-21-2008, 05:09 PM I mean, no client looks and says 'that company uses a free live chat system, i don't want to use them!' - do they?
Many will do actually I guess.
A company which is not willing to spend a few bucks on its support system, I wont comfortably expect great support from them.
If I see a site using LivePerson chat, that will give me the impression that "they are in business"

But LiveZilla is an amazing LiveChat script, isn't it?
TigerHostBD 11-22-2008, 01:34 AM I also prefer Livezilla as a live support system. It has all the features I was looking for.For example, I can invite a visitor to chat while visiting our site. Again if any visitors wants to have a chat with my I get a notification in the desktop client. I think this feature helped me a lot for providing support to clients.
ashokuh 11-22-2008, 03:34 AM i am going to use livezilla , will see if it satifies me

Don't know?
XFactorServers 11-22-2008, 11:33 AM We used Kayako for a few months then switched to Live Help as Kayako is expensive ($30-$40/Month) but then we switched back to Kayako as it's more feature rich.

As far as I know, Kayako LiveResponse is lacking quite some features, compared to others I've used before on the clients side.
JohnJ 11-22-2008, 12:49 PM From my experience ProvideSupport and Kayako LiveResponse are the two best. However, if you're looking to raise your budget, have a look at LivePerson.
SM-Dominic 11-22-2008, 01:35 PM We are using ProvideSupport it's a great product with lot of extra features :)

reca12 11-24-2008, 11:12 PM Take a look at Jerry Messenger (j-liveSupport.com)
We have been using it for almost a year. It is pretty good.
r0kawa 11-25-2008, 07:42 AM I would like to recommend http://www.zopim.com they still in private beta and will offering cheap price compare to other hosted environment (9 USD / month as I know).

Maars 11-25-2008, 04:56 PM LiveZilla is just a freeware. Its not opensource. So maybe, once their base grows, they will come up with licence fees.
Also now Crafty & HCL are also out with windows operator port though not very hightech.
habbolakehosting 11-26-2008, 02:11 PM I love LiveZilla its great for most companys.
Mike - Limestone 11-26-2008, 07:02 PM Kayako SupportSuite is a solid product. I recommend.

lifespeakers 11-27-2008, 01:18 AM We are currently using LivePerson and we are really comfortable with it. Its features are just excellent for our staff.
lemonwonder 11-27-2008, 03:53 AM Kayako SupportSuite is a solid product.

Agreed, Kayako, best in my, and many opinions :)
bdnero 11-27-2008, 07:21 AM Livezilla would do great. It has all the features and its open source!
Free chat service can't be good for paid hosting company.

TigerHostBD 11-27-2008, 08:06 AM Free chat service can't be good for paid hosting company.

And what you've said is judging from the obvious, which is completely wrong!
bdnero 11-28-2008, 05:43 PM Anyone have Reseller or Sub-Reseller Account with Directi or With Registry who use LogicBox system should have this option to sale or to purchase for them self if their upper level not disabled the option.
kiran_n444 11-29-2008, 07:16 PM thanks for the livezilla.com suggestion, it'll also help me out xD
hostingder 11-29-2008, 07:32 PM I've been using Livezilla for a while now i might be perfect for you it's free and it has a great design
cosefi 12-01-2008, 03:17 PM We use provide support but I see this post and now I search livezilla. Thanks everyone
reca12 12-08-2008, 09:44 PM We have been using Jerry Messenger (j-liveSupport.com)
It is supper. You can even chat from your mobile phone.
tuppaware 12-08-2008, 10:41 PM After finding livezilla in thread I'm shocked thats its free... because I would of paid for using something like that. Although I would like a mac version, but thats being picky! :)
RandyE 12-10-2008, 11:12 AM SHHH tuppaware, don't say that too loud, they may hear it :D

RandyE 12-10-2008, 02:16 PM Well, I am off work now, and I went to download filezilla, I get a message Service Unavailable. WTF is that?
RandyE 12-10-2008, 06:02 PM I mean livezilla lol, the site is down, anyone know where else to download it?
stylezrips 12-15-2008, 12:10 PM Livezilla FTW
hosting guru 12-15-2008, 12:41 PM I tried Livezilla but they seem to difficult to implement,I Liked Hab.la
Its cute and effective!
