Also they let hosts host about 40 servers per rack (using 1U cases) instead of 5 minitowers. :) ned patter 09-08-2002, 01:23 PM Yes but there still shelfs. Do you think Rackshack got a few pounds off Ikea? . Shouldn't be called racks because that just makes them sound good. They should be called what they are which is shelfs. mind21_98 09-08-2002, 01:35 PM Rackspace would have to change their name to Shelfspace then. :) ned patter 09-08-2002, 01:39 PM Originally posted by mind21_98 Rackspace would have to change their name to Shelfspace then. :) I they should or it's wrong advertising. I don't want to put anyone off Rackshack though, i wouldn't want consumers to think there server could fall off the shelfs because they won't since Ikea sells only good quality shelfs. Darth 09-08-2002, 01:51 PM "fall off the shelfs" flitcher 09-08-2002, 05:44 PM I thought I was going to see some pictures of "racks". :bawling: mind21_98 09-08-2002, 05:46 PM Originally posted by ned patter I they should or it's wrong advertising. Maybe Ikea should partner up with a webhost and create Ikea-branded colocation? :stickout Darth 09-08-2002, 05:49 PM Originally posted by flitcher I thought I was going to see some pictures of "racks". :bawling: Your not an addict are you? flitcher 09-08-2002, 05:55 PM I think its ok to be an addict to "racks", but being an addict to webhosting racks would be weird. Don't you agree? ;) mind21_98 09-08-2002, 05:55 PM We're all hardware junkies, and we're proud of it! :) Darth 09-08-2002, 05:58 PM *Hides his collection* :D thesmallguyshost 09-08-2002, 06:07 PM Originally posted by ned patter Yes but there still shelfs. racks are not shelves.... and they don't have shelfs either. systems are bolted into a rack. ned patter 09-08-2002, 06:32 PM Here's a nice rack. Priced £99 from Ikea. I a think i'll get one of them. Darth 09-08-2002, 06:34 PM err haha? zerphyte 09-08-2002, 09:11 PM Originally posted by ned patter Yes but there still shelfs. Doubtful, ikea shelfs would cost them to much money. Try used grocery store shelfs. Only the ghetto cheapo useless hosts use grocery store style shelfs/racks. The real datacenters use actual racks where you can fit around 42 U's of devices stacked upwards. cloak 09-09-2002, 12:12 AM Any good places to order racks from?
