after my client site down since 7 oct 2008 to 9 oct 2008
they restored their backup data to the new server
but i got lastest data is 3 oct 2008 not daily backup that their wrote in their website
so i submitted the ticket to get my client daily backup data and some supporter forwarded my ticket to LV3 Support
i waited for 2 days about the response , i posted this problem in their forum, some supporter asked me about my ticket and nothing response
this is the 3rd day of my ticket without response

i told them change daily backup to weekly backup 'cz they don't have daily backup for me
i hope to see some response with my ticket

http://www.hostnine.com/terms-and-conditions/ says:

HostNine keeps daily backups of their servers. HostNine can accept no responsibility for any loss of data or consequences arising from this. HostNine always advises clients to back up their site data regularly for its own protection.

Which day's backup did you ask for? Regular cPanel daily backups only store yesterday's backup. If on 9th you requested the backup of 6th or 7th, you may not get it. You only have the backup of 8th.

i just expect for lastest before the server downed
if i got the backup of 8th i'll happy.

i'm not happy 'cz they don't reponse anything for 3 days
i can't tell my client that they lose thier data or they will get it back

I've edited my last reply, but you may have missed it:

In this case, the more important parameter to be considered for backups will be to note the retention period of the backups. As Harzem mentioned, the regular CPanel backups will have only 1 day retention and you will have little luck to get your backups. However, taking 3 days to reply a support ticket is really too much!

In the back up issue it is always advised to keep a back up from your end also, its the basics of hosting. As in their TOS it is clearly explained that they are not responsible for the lose of data. Any how I also have not much impressed by the three day non response for the ticket.

Hi,

What is the ticket ID related to your restore request? We manage all of our daily backups with the R1Soft backup service and I can assure you it's running. If you requested a backup days after you needed it then we would not have it. We run daily backups which overwrite the previous days backup on every run as they are mainly kept for worst case scenarios such as hardware failures and the only thing needed is a full backup from the previous day to do a proper restore.

Why not just keep a month to be safe?

Why not just keep a month to be safe?

It would require much more space when backing up hundreds of servers. We clearly specify that we offer the daily backups at no charge within all of our packages.

I see. I was always under the impression that daily meant daily backups were taken. I guess the retention period really isn't specified :)

Thanks!

Much more in an absolute sense, but perhaps not that much in a relative one, for:

Recovery points only consist of a copy of changed disk sectors.

Nevertheless, it would be an added cost, and it is entirely at each provider's judgment whether it makes sense or not.

We are able to do daily, weekly and monthly with about a 15% increase in space for the additional week and monthly using R1Soft's software. We love being extra sure we have these rather than assuming just 1 retention date is fine.

I would agree with this. We too have daily backups configured for all of our servers every night and we have a retention period of 7 days.
