a free way: have good content....that is what motivates your members to come back and tell others about your site...
thanks for the help.. is there any special places where to advertise the site
matt2kjones 09-07-2002, 01:58 PM ok you are familiar with meta tags arn't you???
well, simply submit your site to google + altavista, and submit your site to all the relevant categorys on http://dmoz.org and then just wait
also, to motivate people to come back, keep updating, adding new content, etc etc
hope this helps you out.
Matt

Just curious, what is the nature of your site?
I know what comes to mind when I first saw the nick 'mufc' and I'm hoping the site is related to what I'm thinking :o

Spam! That's right, that can of luncheon meat sitting in the fridge can also promote your web site. For very little cost, you can notify unlimited email accounts about your site and receive unlimited hits! :stickout
Seriously though, there's always Adwords from Google. :)

well, simply submit your site to google + altavista, and submit your site to all the relevant categorys on http://dmoz.org and then just wait1) Google ignores meta tags.
2) You should submit to only one category at dmoz. There is a "listing change" form from which you can suggest an additional category, after your site has been added. Submitting to multiple categories up front is considered to be "spamming" by dmoz; if you do it you'll likely not be listed in any category.
make a free porn site and you will get alot visits ;)

A win win point! Content must be good and a forum will bring them back too.

 that is so untrue
mufc, got a sister? take a picture of her in her bikini and you'll soon get swamps of visitors to your site :stickout

 that is so untrue :eek:Admittedly, it's a little untrue, or more precisely it's an oversimplification: they'll index the meta description tag if there's no other text on the page; as in an all-Flash site for example. And of course they use NOARCHIVE, and ROBOTS, and even GOOGLEBOT. But they don't use meta keywords at all -- too easy to spam.
mcfcforever 09-19-2002, 05:49 PM one tip, change your name to Mcfc...not mufc...mite put people off :D
