I have a script that needs to have remote access to cpanel. I am aware that many hosts don't allow this. I know Bluehost and HG do, are there any others?

Do you have access to WHM (WebHost Manager)?
from there you can create the 'Remote Access Key'

Is that what you mean?

Have you asked your hosting supplier?

I have this script sat up on my HG reseller account and it works. I have tried to sit it up on my other host and so did the tech. It can't be done because my other host does not allow remote access to cpanel. The script logs in to your cpanel account and creates the database, etc. WP managerdx is the script.

K so it was a reseller at hostgator, which would have had WHM, which is why you would have had a remote access key

Is your current host a reseller? or just a standard single account?

single account. I know it will work at bluehost but i do not want to cough up $160.00 to pay 1 or 2 years in advance.

Ability to run Unix shell commands from PHP is what I am looking for.

oooh. Ok thats different, this will depend on your hosting provider whether they provide shell access or not... I dont know who else that does, sorry
