newbie question here.... i have a domain registered and am hosting a site. i want to set up an e-mail alias that, when a user sent an e-mail to it, would sent that e-mail to say 5 users.

for example:

user sends e-mail to: support@mydomain.com
the e-mail would actually go to the 5 support people:

user1@yahoo.com
user2@hotmail.com
user3@anotherdomain.com
...

my questions:
1) do i need to set up a user account for this? i would prefer not to, as i don't want 'support' to be a user, just an alias.

2) how do i set this up?

any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Hmm - I just tried to reply and it did not show up....

Anyway, depending on what system you are on, you should be able to just create the alias and then assign the forwarding emails. Some systems do require you to create the full blown user account before you can assign any forwards to it though.

it is called forwarding - and it's free and easy to set up at most hosts. What type of control panel do you have - will get you better answers.

i believe it's a proprietary control panel- icontrol.

You can forward all your emails to all the 5 users automatically by setting it in the web control panel.

Yeah you can set up in the control panel so that mails to a particular email address are all sent to another email address(es).
