View Full Version : Registrar abuse

Hello,

I am going through a terrible nightmare:

I have a domain registered at DotManiac.com

DotManiac.com charged for my domain renewal before expiration date.
Even though my Visa was charged, they did not update my domain expiration.
They let my domain expire for a weak already, even though it is paid.
They do not respond to email, ticket support, or fax.
I tried renewing for yet another year, I was charged, but my domain still, even with 2 full years paid shows as expired in WHOIS.

I have informed about my situation to Tucows (upstream domain provider), emailing compliance--opensrs.org, but still to no avail, they simply replied saying it is in "REDEMPTION PERIOD".

I don't know what else to do, I feel lost and abused.
I did everything correctly yet my domain is expiring, charged to my VISA, and offline.

Any suggestions, please?

Thanks

Hi MTO,

If tucows are the registrar, then you are having problems with a reseller, not a registrar.

Ask tucows if they can interceed, if you are the registered owner, you might be able to get it moved to another reseller, then just complete a chargeback on your visa.

Kind regards,
Chris

MTO,

Can you send me some details off list - specifically the domain in question - and we'll get this figured out for you.

Just updating this post to mention that after communication with James, my domain was finally retrieved out of redemption.

After a few more days it was resolved.
DotManiac replied saying "dotManiac is under new management as of 10/06/08." Seems that is/was part of the problem.

The experience was terrible, with more than a week without the domain, which had my main email accounts.

Thanks James.
