I finally decided to check my logs and lo-and-behold I had a hotlinker linking to my "faces" images...

A little mod_rewriting later, I'm getting some prime advertising space on thier site :)

Here's (http://membres.lycos.fr/nash68/html/) is the site in question... I have also attached a screenshot in case they fix it...

Note to the webmaster if he/she sees this thread:Please don't hotlink my images. I had repeated requests for this image from your site (traffic I wasnt seeing). If you want to use them, save them and put them on your server instead of making me foot the bill... ;) :)

Thanks,
webmaster of 2thextreme.org

Thats pretty good.
I've done that too. Ours says "I learned not to steal bandwidth from oursite.com.

btw, that site is so crappy with pictures under the text like that. Heck your pic was probably the only good one on the site. (then and now)

LOL... Thanks everyone... :)

The good thing about my "bad" image is that it is readable regardless of the background color ;). At one time it was a black/ lime green flashing image. Quite annyoing to say the least, but I decided to be more subtle about it.

I only allow a few sites to hotlink to my images, 5 to be exact. Also since my site contains 3d models that can take up quite a bit of space, any sites that wish to hotlink to my site must be "approved"...

<mini rant>
I once got uppercutted for hosting someone's download and they posted to many popular 3d places and I drained over 1gb in less than a day (compared to 60-100MB month usual at the time. Over a 5000% traffic increase).
</mini rant>

ATST.... I like the sarcasm of yours. :D

**snip** Heck your pic was probably the only good one on the site. (then and now)

You can go to my site and scroll down to my Junkmail Rant and see the 2 images they hotlinked. They linked the images of the two monkeys...

I also have a similar system for my downloads... Any sites that hotlink to my downloads, get my "Error Page". Its not 100% perfect (nothing is on the Internet) but it does catch the people who want a free-ride.

I bet that site is getting some hits though :)
