I just got a call from our account rep at SW Soft advising me of a so called "Special" where they will "for this week only" let us renew all of our expired SUS'es on Plesk licenses in our account.

Apparently they have changed their old policy where we could renew it for 65 percent of the full price. Now they want you to repurchase the full license again if you let it lapse.

Sounds to me like a bit of a Squeeze Play going on from the folks at SW Soft.

What are your thoughts?

I seem to remember reading about this a few months ago here @ WHT, shortly after Parallels took over Plesk... that they were going to charge full freight for renewals.

I guess the question becomes whether Plesk, as a product, is worth that much money. It's a question that only each business can answer for themselves. Some will say yes, and some will say no.

Well it is ALSO a question of IF IT IS LEGAL according to the contract between SW Soft and their clients. There are many hosting businesses out there with a significant investment in SW Soft's product line. Ours included.

I am wondering if anyone out there has run this by their attorney.

They are doing the same thing with Helm.
I think they are stuggling to regain capital after a very expensive year buying up competitor products.
