Hello friends,
I am hoping to launch another site before Christmas and the thought of being able to recoup (however little) of the cost via the placement of online advertisements is attractive. I've never used ads on my site before and wanted to know what your experience/recommendations were.
From my research online:
AdSense seems to be the dominant solution - at first I thought this was the solution I would go with hands down, however I have discovered countless sites which have been "banned" right as the site was about to receive payment for hosting x months of ads. I am familiar with some of these sites and know they are legitimate and did not violate the AdSense TOS. Some of them have been reinstated, but I don't want to deal with those headaches when my site is featured/slashdotted or a competitor decides to make a proxy script click all the links on my page 24/7... I can understand googles desire to automate the process, but it seems like they have really stolen a lot of peoples money and I don't want to be part of that.
AdBright seems to have high ratings for general sites -- I was really interested in them as someone said they issue payment via Paypal, however I have since discovered they only pay via check now.
Are there any sites that don't require a tax id or social security number? I don't really feel comfortable giving that information out to ad serving sites. I realize you must pay taxes on income earned, however I would rather the income be reported via a financial institution -- I know they typically have better procedures in place for safeguarding confidential information.
Regards,
Mike
