View Full Version : Adelphia internet access....
Santoman 09-05-2002, 09:17 PM Hey folks - sorry to be so quiet this week...
Sunday, we lost our internet access with Adelphia. Figuring Monday was a holiday, I called first thing Tuesday. They FINALLY got someone out TODAY.
They sent a Cable guy, who knew NOTHING about cable modems. He replaced a bunch of connectors on our lines, and said, "well, have to call the PC Tech". Of course, there's nothing WRONG with my PC, or the other systems in the house, so I got REALLY mad at this one...
So, they've got someone looking at the lines... But, of course, they can't do that till tomorrow... :bawling:
Needless to say, it is a good thing I sell dialup access. I created an account for myself and call it a day. DIALUP IS SLOW compared to 2MB downloads!!!!
Anyways, just wanted to vent about Adelphia. I hope they fix there problems soon...

IGobyTerry 09-05-2002, 09:22 PM Adelphia doesn't offer cable internet access in my area because they don't want to spend the cash to upgrade us to Fiber Optic Cable lines. They sure don't have a problem charging us $35 for 30 channels on TV though.
jayjay 09-05-2002, 09:37 PM Santoman, get used to it. That's a monthly occurance for Adelphia. Sometimes you'll only beable to pull 30-50kb/sec for a month then it's nice 400-800kb/sec for awhile.. then you'll loose access for a day or two.. then back to slow action.
It sucks. The winter is the worst.
(I have Adelphia too.)

So that's the excuse in my area? :(
We have like 50 or so channels here, and that's w/o Digital Cable. No wonder they're bankrupt.
Hmmmm, considering Adelphia filed for Bankrupcy and that the primary stockholders are in jail, I wouldn't expect it to improve too much unless someone else buys it hehe.
Santoman 09-06-2002, 12:26 AM Actually, I'm spending 100 a month for internet access, and complete digital service.
My internet access has been pretty regular for the last 6 months without a single MAJOR problem.
Then, Sunday something went wrong, and everyone in Southern NH went down for them. They fixed it, and supposedly, I'm the only one that hasn't come back up.
My gripe is that they actually sent out some GUY that new NOTHING about Cable modems. I mean, COME ON! Replace some Connectors?!?! What's up with THAT!?!
As for the bankruptcy, they got what, a billion+ in financing, and are planning on continuing to roll out upgrades in our area. They started working on Pelham. I think the upgrades are going to be going slower than before, but at least they are working on it.
The main backbone lines will be Fiber, and they are replacing old coax with newer coax.

DanielP 09-06-2002, 12:32 AM Santonman, get use to it.
If I can't fix it myself when it comes to the cable system in this house I just live with it or don't use it. All they ever send out for me is idiots... one even re-wired my entire basement (while someone else in the family was with him)... Totally fooked my wires so I had to go and re-wire the thing...

Amazing aren't they? I actually had to wire our house, because the guy they HIRED to do it, wasn't feeling very good!
Modem still down. If it isn't fixed by the time I get back from the hospital today, Me and MR Modem are going straight to the Adelphia Office... I've got a TON of work I need to get done, and after being down for almost an entire week, I'm steaming!
PLUS to top it off my girlfriend is going in for major surgery today, and will be in the hospital all weekend!!!
The fun never ends...
