As an ecommerce company with a huge international user base what are all the factors one would consider when it comes to selecting and integrating more/alternate payment gateway and/or payment methods?

Top influencing factors with others which impact in the long run.

It really depends of the countries you want to serve, some of the factors I would consider are fraud modules that will allow you to validate the credit cards for the countries where you are doing business.

Additionally I would check the different discount rates per gateway/country, notice that US gateways charge more for interional orders than national orders that can be AVS validated. However many other international gateways have also a high discount rate.

Besides security and discount rates, I don't know what else to consider, maybe the currency management?
