View Full Version : Customer Support: Live chat
Dowdy 09-17-2008, 07:23 AM hi,
I have recently installed cerberus to help with customer support but live chat is not included as they are still working on it for the new version. I just thought I'd ask what other people are using in their customer support systems for live chat.
Thanks
ideastack 09-17-2008, 05:08 PM try livehelpmessenger.com or google gadget
AL-Benjamin 09-17-2008, 05:17 PM theres quite a few out there. we use live help from stardevelop, but i know lots of people use clickchatsold, and boldchat. theres also a free one from crafty something, but the name escapes me.
Dominus 09-17-2008, 05:18 PM instantservice dot com is use by some pretty major hosting companies
GNAX - Terrence 09-17-2008, 05:20 PM Check out Kayako liveresponse, works well!
HVH-Ernie 09-17-2008, 07:16 PM Check out livezilla.. Its free and awesome
blessen 09-17-2008, 07:43 PM Go for Kayako liveresponse or phplive chat .
If you personally ask me, I would never go for Live chat as a support option, instead would try to setup 24/7 phone support service. Customers feels more comfortable talking to someone when they have problem. Thats human nature and if applied in business will do real good, is what I personally believe. My 2 cent :-)
FourmanNetworks 09-17-2008, 08:13 PM are there any Open source solutions that would be acceptable for webhosting support / sales
would a jabber server work using the jwclient for the website? I don't know I am just asking

PCS-Chris 09-18-2008, 07:07 AM We use Livehelp, great Desktop apps too. http://livehelp.stardevelop.com/
RGoulding 09-18-2008, 09:24 AM Check out livezilla.. Its free and awesome
+1 - Don't know how I hadn't seen this one until recently - fabulous piece of software (though it's geo-tracking is rather off... not that it is a major function of the software).

Does LiveHelp allow a supervisor to view chats done by staff as they happen (i.e. can you observe other chats taking place)?
Dowdy 09-18-2008, 10:53 AM after looking into all of them I've settled for Livezilla. It does everything I need and it's free, I'll have a look at Cerberus' when it gets released. Maybe even invest in Livehelp when the budget allows
linux-tech 09-18-2008, 11:23 AM over the past few months I've been looking over things on this respect too.
Kayako - A joke of a company, one that can't even support their own clients properly. Hardly worth spending the time (or money) on.
Cerberus - They've been claiming to have a "live chat product" in development since before php5 came out, for at least 4 years now. I'll believe it when I see it, it was SUPPOSED to be released with v4, but never made it in.
Livehelp - Desktop software is buggy as hell, developers can't fix problems properly. it's just a nightmare to get ANY kind of true support from these guys for this application.
Livezilla, I can't say anythingg about because I haven't used it, but I'm going to start working with that one today, we'll see how it works out ;)
This might be too simple for you but as someone starting out real small, i am thinking of ZOHO embedded chat (zoho.com). I liked the look of 'omnistar live', and nicecoder's (nicecoderdotcom) iDESK and chat.
itduke 09-19-2008, 02:47 PM live response Kayako is very good now using it for a long time.
You might want to check out PHP Live. It works great, sign up for a trial.
All the best,
JordanSS 09-21-2008, 07:00 PM I have to say Kayako's product is ok. I haven't tried livezilla though but plan to :)
