I am new to web hosting, in fact I haven't started yet. I was looking at laying out the money for my own servers and internet connections but after reading this site have decided to start a little slower and start by reselling. After reading through some of the other discussions on this site I have a pretty good idea as to who to use for my servers. What is a good way to get people to start using your hosting service? Is there a site that is better for advertising than other sites?

Build your site - use a third party credit card service like http://Revecom.com - promote the service to your friends and family and then to your associates circle. Let your growth come through referrals/word of mouth. You don't have to take on the world. Just carve out your little place in the sun and enjoy. :D:agree:

What an awesome explanation!!!

I did exactly what Bob just mentioned and it has worked our fairly well. I've been getting around 1 client a week through word of mouth which for some may seem slow, but I am impressed.

That's excellent. Well done indeed. Slow organic growth is good. Just think where your business will be in 2 to 5 years from now. :D
