I have one big question:

I have abillity to make nameservers from all my domains,
how can i point them to some existing nameservers?

Let me explain more... if my web server nameservers are ns1.old.com/ns2.old.com how can i set my new ns1.new.com
to them ? and use them for nameservers of the domains i register?

Are you talking about a dedicated server, network or a virtual host here?

To point a name server requires knowing who your domain registrar is. Most of them have easy control panels that let you enter new IP# for NS1 and NS2

Let me explain some more,

think that i have a reseller web hosting in a server, their server
dns's are ns1.reseller.com/ns2.. but i want to use my own nameservers for my domains.
I have a domain control panel that i can use it to make a nameserver from one of my domains and can assocciate an IP to it.

Now my question is how can i creat a nameserver, and point it to the existing nameserver? is it possible? what do you say?

That means you want to be your own host - this just need a small change at your domain registrar so you can register your domain as a name server - then comes the hosting part, pick a host who can let you have your own name servers:

www.VenturesOnline.com
www.ResellerSpace.net
www.McHost.com

There are others, so look around.

It is not possible to point nameservers to other nameservers.

Each set of nameservers have to have unique IP addresses, so you would have to ask your host about them setting you up 2 unqiue IPs and then adding those IPs to a DNS server.

Yes, you can have any number of nameservers point to the same IP address. I.E.


ns1.name.com >
ns1.newname.com > 000.000.000.000
ns1.aname.com >

Same goes for the other nameserver etc. :D

Although not ALL registrars are UP TO DATE with this. :rolleyes:

I have a domain registration system, that allow me to set my nameservers to any IP (Unique or not), but when i had set my nameservers to their IPs, it didnt worked, why? any clue?

Example: the host DNS: ns1.names.net IP: 179.12.11.11
and i set : ns1.myns.net IP:179.12.11.11

But when i use my dns for any domain, it didnt work.

Hi Habib, what you have done should work. How have you been creating your Zone files. Do you use WHM or a similar manager?
