Guys,

We have been using cPanel ever since we started. I believe I first used it in 2002. Until now we still use them, and its the only control panel we offer to our clients.

However in 2004, directadmin was started and now 4 years later I wanted to check-in with you guys if any linux control panel has matured enough (it includes end-user-feel) to compete against cPanel?

In the past directadmin was not widespread (it seems to have changed a bit now) - and I just looked at it seems they redesigned the end user panel. Any experience, what do your end customers say? Complaints or other suggestions besides Directadmin?

Thank you

No, don't think there is one to stand up cPanel yet. Though lately there is one i personally like, LXadmin, check the demo at http://demo.lxadmin.com:7778/ .

LXadmin looks pretty good from that demo. However it will probably be a long time before anything truly competes with CPanel their main edge is their brand i mean when i think of CPanel i think quality and ease of use. And i think the same may happen when CPanel for Windows comes into production use. But LXadmin looks promising and DirectAdmin looks nice and simple but from first look doesnt appear as feature rich.

we use to use cpanel but due to the issues we had on all our servers we moved all our servers over to directadmin and never looked back and even our customers are happy with the new control panel.

We are looking at theming our control panel to a cpanel like theme with a few extras and even looking in to see if we can add /cpanel to all accounts on the server but we are looking in to this.

myself and a few admins we have find directadmin alot more friendly when it comes to updates and managing the server itself.
