nickn 09-12-2008, 01:41 PM Will i have access to SL portal with services like DNS, Bandwidth graph, etc...?
Hello,
You have limited access to SL portal. I can't clarify any real answer on "etc".
Let me know exactly what you would like and I'll let you know if we can provide it.
cheaptraffic 09-12-2008, 01:43 PM Right now i am using SoftLayer DNS function. And i want to be able to use the same DNS with your server. Is it possible.
That is the only important thing now.
thanks
nickn 09-12-2008, 01:45 PM I'm going to have to check on this, I'll let you know as soon as I can confirm.

WPBMikeHill 09-12-2008, 04:13 PM I just signed up for these guys for my counterstrike upcoming clan.
I want 2 of these with Windows, the only problem is I could order one at a time, so I tried placing another order and it said my name was in the system already.
Anyway, I sent sales@ an E-mail about it, hope they respond and process both of my orders.
Will let you guys know how they work out!
nickn 09-12-2008, 08:24 PM Mike, Let me know if you have any questions or need anything done.
Thanks!
paulg1981 09-14-2008, 02:02 PM Ordered from 10tb.com awaiting delivery. Support said they are waiting for hardware but presales told me that it would be a few hours for setup :-( Frankly I am a little miffed about being mislead

Paul,
I'm sorry you were mislead. I'm going to speak to the sales person who told you it would only be a few hours. He's being optimistic, most of the time it is a few hours - but as you know, we have to account for other issues during setup, which can cause it to be up to 24-48 business hours.
Under best (or even fairly normal) circumstances, it is a few hours. :)
Thanks for your order! Let me know if you need anythign, nick@midphase.com will reach my blackberry anytime day or night :)
paulg1981 09-14-2008, 02:23 PM Thank you for your reply and resolution. Your communicativeness has allayed my concerns and I look forward to delivery tonight. Thank you

Yes. It's the same as Softlayer (softlayer.com)
We're a reseller of theirs. :)
Gurudev 09-15-2008, 02:54 AM Interested but a few questions:
1) Who provides support? Is there a phone number to call for support?
2) Is the price perpetual or introductory?
3) Can I pick the Dallas datacenter?
4) I just treid to see the order process and costs in your configuration page, but on that page I don't see the $19.95/month managed option that you advertise (just the $69.95 supreme support option shows up). Can I opt for the $19.95/month option during or after signup?
5) Any other control panels available (other than cpanel and plesk)?
Is there a demo of plesk control panel somewhere?
Thanks

We (Midphase) provides the support, you do have access to a 800 # to call. You can choose any datacenter you would like, and can added managed services whenever you wish..here's details on that:

We do not publish a demo of the plesk control panel, but i'm sure theres one around. :)
Thanks.

Leandro Xavier 09-15-2008, 04:11 PM So, i will have access to the softlayer portal. When i open a ticket, the ticket will be answeared by the midphase staff or softlayer staff?
thank you!
nickn 09-15-2008, 07:26 PM Support will always be submitted through our desk and assisted by our admin staff :)
SC-Daniel 09-16-2008, 08:43 PM Nick,
Can you give me the cost for additional IP addresses?
Also, what is the cost to upgrade the Xeon 3220 to 8GB RAM instead of 4GB?\
Thanks,
Daniel
nickn 09-16-2008, 08:45 PM Ips are available for 50 cents each in bulk of 8. So $4 per 8.
Also as far as extra RAM, it would be $100/mo for extra 4GB.
However, we do also have one more server:
Powerhouse Dual 5430
12G of RAM
4x1TB RAID5 (hardware RAID)
10G of RAM
Available only in our Seattle datacenter, and available at the killer rate of $479!
Just something to consider. :)
SC-Daniel 09-16-2008, 08:48 PM Thanks Nick :)
Do you guys allow IP pooling via VLANs? (never dealt with Softlayer, so I am unsure)
I will for sure be purchasing a couple servers over the next couple of weeks as I expand our network to two datacenters, so IP pooling would be a great feature :)
I would be using these for VPS powered by OpenVZ, so I would no doubt be needing licensing for at least cPanel. What is the cost for an internal cPanel VPS license?
layer0 09-16-2008, 09:15 PM Powerhouse Dual 5430
12G of RAM
4x1TB RAID5 (hardware RAID)
10G of RAM
Is that 12GB RAM or 10GB RAM?
nickn 09-16-2008, 09:42 PM Is that 12GB RAM or 10GB RAM?
Sorry that's 12G of RAM and 10TB of bandwidth :)
CNSERVERS 09-16-2008, 10:22 PM I need IP pooling too, at least in the same DC, will you have this in the future?
nickn 09-16-2008, 10:23 PM We can quickly re-route IPs, but we can't allow you too for networking reasons. Our support is very flexible though, we'd be able to take care of you.
Ips are available for 50 cents each in bulk of 8. So $4 per 8.
8 IPs is the maximum you can buy at one time?
Just to make sure, automatic OS reinstalls and remote reboot is all included?
visualjava1216 09-19-2008, 09:17 PM is this offer still available,,,?
nickn 09-19-2008, 09:18 PM Yes - this offer is still available. :)
matthewphiong 09-20-2008, 02:00 AM Hi All,
I've just picked up the $139/m plan + $19.95/m managed services as a part of my switch from Autica (midPhase) VPS to dedicated.
The funny thing is that YOU WILL NEED to add additional $25/m for Cpanel license in order to get tech support and also transfer (VPS to dedicated). This is what the sales guy told me (what the tech guy told him). Initially, I've agreed to go for webmin.
This is not clearly stated at the website.
So, indirectly you will need to fork out an additional $25/m to have Cpanel installed and to have tech support.
Well, I don't know whether my case is an isolated one, but it happened to me.
Matt
karoma12 09-23-2008, 10:43 PM Hi
I took one $139 server at their washington softlayer DC, past 2 days and its facing lot of problems (they told me they are routing issues)
(1)
the main IP they gave me a abused softlayer main IP for my server, upon complaint they removed that - fine
(2)
My server facing a serious IP routing problem, where which i cannot tracerroute some of websites (for eg: i cannot traceroute site where i can download APF firewall, also some of sites i cannot traceroute)
they told me these are small routing issues which softlayer will handle
Softlayer gave all kinda patchy solutions for the resolution, which i dont want to
I have since asked them to shift my server to other softlayer DC or refund the money
nice company, nice fast support - but the fact is - i paid for the server 2 days back, and since then i have raised 25 support tickets to be able to have my server online successfully
nickn 09-23-2008, 10:46 PM Hi,
Sofltayer suffered a few isolated routing issues today, this was an isolated issue and really just bad timing. As far as the IP issue, I think that was resolved quite promptly.
I'm looking into details of your routing issues now to ensure it was resolve. I'll reply to you personally as well as this thread with details.
karoma12 09-26-2008, 09:14 AM given a new server in softlayer seattle DC, server is fast - network is fast all good
looks that mine was a isolated problem
all sorted out
nick was fast to respond and help, thanks

Wow, that's great. If you have any killer deals in Houston, esp. a similar (or the same) box, I'll so take that!
I'll even upsell myself, and add the full management, Cpanel w/Fantastico, and some more IPs.
I'm the person who was emailing you last week about your management services, btw. The one who was surprised when they found out that you offer unlimited script installs with the $69/mo management package. That's pretty crazy!
If you can actually deliver, that really is an incredible value. Not that I need unlimited anything, but I occasionally do a need a *lot* of scripts installed... you could easily save me a $1k a year to set up a box. Maybe more in some cases. (depends on how much I can pack onto one box :))
I'm sure a lot of other people here would agree. Proper script installation, done in any sort of quantity, can be expensive.
I'm guessing, too, that for some people that sell hosting here this would be an extra- crazy good deal. They could charge their own customers $25 or $50 or whatever, to install a script, and just have you guys actually do the deed under the all-inclusive plan. That's quite a profit center there.
This, along with the 10terabytes of InterNap bandwidth, really sets you guys apart in my book. It ends up being a much better deal (at least for someone like me), than the servers I get directly from Softlayer. I imagine that someone on here might overwhelm you guys with installation requests, and you might have to start putting limits on such an all-inclusive service.
My only fear is that you'd become overloaded if more folks used this service, and your tech support (at least the guys who do the install) would become slow. Have you planned for that?
