What is the avg. cost of a web designer per hour?

we need to hire another one and there is such a range that I would like to poll you guys to see how much you charge and how much you get charged. We are currently using a graphic artist and our programmer puts everything together.

I know experience plays into this huge.

But is there any industry standards?

I know in the print industry with Graphic artists there is standards.

All I need is someone to follow directions, make pretty pictures and make sure it works in all browsers, no dbase programming or anything technical like that. I should point out that I am not asking for web designers in this post- just asking how much the avg. wage for this is. ( I want someone in town to yell at :)

I have found that freelancers always charge more than if I were to have one "inhouse", seems that people are more willing to be "wage slaves" than freelancers and hence the price diffference.

With this Gonzo industry anything goes but think What are you experiences?

Ya, I like the word buy. but if you prefer, you can sub the word buy with employ, its not like he is going to have to hand over first born and I raise his kids to sew wallets and design web pages.

Depending on how professional the company and/or person, you can expect to pay anywhere from $100.00 to $1,000.00 for a few simple pages with graphics. I only recommend one designer. His name is Brandon, and his website is located at http://www.quadrent.com -- I've been dealing with him for years now, and he's one of the best. E-mail him information for a price quote.
