Hi!
I received a couple of files but I can't open them as they are in Adobe Illustrator format (and my trial version has expired).. is there anyone here who could save them as PSD for me in a way that it maintains the layers?
I'd really appreciate it!

Sorry Kirsty I was asleep :) You can just open the .ai's with Photoshop, no problem.

With layer information intact? Not in any version I've had up to CS2. Flattens layers, as far as I know.

Designing a website in Illustrator... not a good idea for sure.
And even more - it's CMYK :erm:

Actually, it's optional to use CMYK or RGB when you start the file, and you can later convert.

Actually there IS something wrong - you are giving up the control over the pixels which most web layouts are built of (I am not talking about Flash here).
And the result? Blurred edges, no sharp 1 pixel wide lines, etc. You can't say there's "nothing wrong" with it.
Actually, it's optional to use CMYK or RGB when you start the file, and you can later convert.
RGB->CMYK conversion may result in noticeable color shift, particularly if other than "normal" layer overlay modes are used.
They are rendered differently in these two color spaces.
Also CMYK offers you limited color palette in comparison to RGB (vibrant colors like blues and greens are not available in CMYK).

amygdela: I have tried but I can't open it in Photoshop without it flattening the layers.
Lemon Sky: Thanks for your efforts, but there is something wrong with the files as Photoshop CS2 in unable to open them - the error is "the document appears to be damaged. unexpected end-of-file. your request cannot be completed"..
Is there anyone out there who could help? The link to the file is:

Indeed, but that's no problem with a simple layout like that one. But it seems you're helped out already.
