I need a cell phone that can act as a modem and supply UNLIMITED time to the internet, not based on MB's of transfer...
Could someone please give me some suggestions as i need to be connected to my laptop away from home for many hours and the current per MB charges would put me out of biz...

thanks.

unfortunately, just as unlimited bandwidth doesn't exist, unlimited MB of transfer (isn't that the same thing) on a wireless connection doesn't exist....

but check out sprint's laptop pcmcia card....offers nationwide access via your laptop wirelessly...

If they can offer unlimited internet acces via telphone WIRE, i thought it possible to offer unlimited internet access via telephone WIRELESS... whats the difference? I mean i honestly dont see where the problem is..

Verizon has Express Network unlimited for $99/mo. That includes only data though.

well i really dont want to get into a discussion about how ISPs offer unlimited access.......

...but briefly, ISPs (such as AOL) for unlimited hours, not transfer, and even that is a lie....

...think about it...lets use a dial up ISP for example, with a 56K modem (that's limited by the fcc to 53.3 kbps), that's your limit right there...only 2592000 seconds in a month so thats just about 16.5 GB of data transfered as a maximum limit - and even that is not possible cause you never get the full 53.3 speed...

just cause they offer it doesn't mean it's possible ;)

I have an adapter for my motorola Sprint PCS phone that let's me use it like a modem for my laptop. Only get 14.4K speeds, but it only counts toward my minutes and they don't care about the transfer.

Hmm,, so there is no 56k unlimited internet access with wireless or cellphones out there??

I understand the speed limit, but i wont be downloading huge files so im good with 56k or 14k rather on laptop.. i just need something on a larger scale than these stupid 5MB plans..

The easiest, and probably cheapest thing to do is to get a regular nationwide dialup plan and then get a cell plan with a huge amount of minutes. Connect a cellular modem to your laptop and just dial in normally.
