Hi, I am waiting for my site to be indexed by Google.
When it gets indexed, how quickly will new posts show in the search results? I have a news site, so it wouldn't do me any good if each article took a week to show up!!
Thanks!
ps: while still waiting to be indexed, will link building be adavantageous to me?

Link building will always help. As G comes across them, it will help boost your rankings. As far as new posts being added, it depends. Good quality backlinks to new posts will always speed up the process.

I believe good indexing happens over time. It wouldn't just "start". I'm just now learning all of this myself. I know there are two types of SEO. Black Hat SEO and White Hat SEO. You should pay close attention to White Hat SEO cuz it uses a more organic way of indexing.
Backlinks help for sure, though. Just make sure your page validates and make sure that you use Strict XHTML and you should be golden.

in my experience it takes around 24 hrs, you should submit your site to different forums and submit it also in different directoris and social bookmarking websites.

These days indexing happens very quickly. Of course, Google will need to find your page, either through your site or a link from another site.
Also, I hope you realize that there is a difference between being indexed and being ranked well. Being indexed means your page is included in the database. It does not mean you will rank well for any of the keywords.
