View Full Version : New on this business - Good reseller hosting?
axishift 08-28-2008, 03:56 AM Guys, I been googling around and have found many review sites. Although, I am not sure if they're real.
So far I am aiming for hostupon.com and lunarpages.
Any more recommendations?
PAH - Tim 08-28-2008, 05:13 AM Have you had a look at InnoHosting. One of the main advantages of them is that they support your clients. Which means you have the added bonus of being able to boast 24/7 support to your clients.

Be aware that the two offers are very different. One provides you with a big account that you can slice as you please, the other simply allows you to resell a predefined shared hosting account.
urevisedhosting 08-28-2008, 08:26 AM Make sure you choose a host that does not oversell. Overselling is risky for clients but brings web hosts lots of money. In my opinion it is a mistake to oversell webhosting and compromises the servers reliability.
You need to find a web host that has reliable and stable web hosting services.
Hope This Helps
ldcdc 08-28-2008, 09:38 AM Overselling may or may not lead to reliability issues. Plenty of hosts do just fine with moderate and not so moderate overselling.
Staying away from overselling is not as easy as it may sound either. "No overselling" can be easily claimed, but not so easily proved.

Can you please elaborate? Actually, you were clear, but I would have completely missed that. To me the only difference appears to be that one gives the reseller 15 GB (basic) and the other just 1 GB.
That doesn't mean the one offering 1 GB of space is to be sliced up? I would take your answer to mean that as a reseller, I would be selling "individual" 1 GB accounts to my clients?
I so wouldn't have thought that.
ldcdc 08-28-2008, 02:21 PM I would be selling "individual" 1 GB accounts to my clients? Yes. The more packages you'd be buying/reselling, the lower the price you'd pay per account.

slothasor 08-28-2008, 04:42 PM I have used hostgator and was very pleased with the service.

Aahh...thanks for that. I saw it, but it apparently didn't click till you pointed out how it works.

you would be better of with a normal reseller plan, this one seems more like an affiliate sort of way!
A normal reseller plan will allow you to create your own plans at your own cost.
Xaurora 08-28-2008, 07:18 PM I would say that WHT is the BEST site for reviews.. and current news on hosting...
HaZe_X 08-28-2008, 07:46 PM Out of 2 other sites that I visited, this is the best site I have found when it comes to reviews.
axishift 08-29-2008, 01:02 PM Thanks everyone!
So far the search has provided me with wealthy of information.
I am now thinking of innohosting or hostgator.
I truly believe that for me as a first timer, I should do it right. I know in the end, this will really help me in the long run.
Still researching!
Thanks
A Grateful Dad 08-29-2008, 01:31 PM I think if you are looking to get started on the right foot, some of my recommendation would be;
1. KnownHost
2. LiquidWeb
3. InnoHosting
4. HostGator
I have personal experience with the first three and I have sent off a customer to HostGator whom I couldn't handle their requirements anymore and they are very happy over there.
Cheers!

axishift 09-02-2008, 04:03 AM Thanks!
I am now on InnoHosting and GeekStorage!
dhcart 09-02-2008, 05:28 AM I recommend Hostdime or Surpasshosting(it's member of Hostdime family). We have reseller accounts on both of them for years. Their services are very similar. But Hostdime support is little better.
Quartz 09-02-2008, 12:41 PM Some other choices include Hawk Host or ServerRhino. Both are reliable hosts, as is HostGator and InnoHosting.
Just giving out some more options.
axishift 09-04-2008, 12:38 AM How about GeekStorage?
livechatdir 09-04-2008, 04:01 AM I have had good experience with hostgator. Thumbs up to that company.
axishift 09-07-2008, 08:56 AM I am now also considering crucial paradigm.
teldercocc 09-19-2008, 11:04 PM I'd stay away from Crucial, but I do know that Hostgator has always been really good to the customers that we've referred over to them.
designerzz 09-20-2008, 04:56 AM hostgator is good, but Overselling is DISABLE.
absort 09-20-2008, 06:15 AM Search very well first before you take your hosting. I wish you gl.
teldercocc 09-20-2008, 03:13 PM why stay away teldercocc?
The systems they use for their hosting accounts is pretty convoluted and their tech support is horrid. They have a tech that picks up the ticket, looks at it and then passes it to another tech to fix. Their billing and TOS is pretty poor as well. If you don't like the service or something goes wrong you almost have no recourse at all.
crucialx 09-22-2008, 11:32 PM Hi teldercocc,
Can you please provide evidence of our horrid tech support? Feel free to contact axishift and other users of our service, and you will find they are nothing but happy with our service. We pride ourselves in offering excellent tech support, and

Our TOS/AUP is very reasonable, however if you disagreed with it you should not have signed up.

teldercocc 10-02-2008, 02:31 PM Is this why that user is with a different host now? When I had an issue, tech support picked up my ticket within 18 minutes...they PICKED IT UP, that was all. They then forwarded it to another technician who took almost an hour to send a response back to me saying the issue was resolved when it wasn't. it took another 20-40 minutes for another tech support rep to pick the ticket up and pass it off to someone else who finally got the issue resolved around4pm the following day. That's over 12 overs since the original ticket was submitted before the issue was actually resolved. That's pretty poor tech support in anyone's book. Also I did read your TOS and AUP and that is why I signed up, it's just a shame you couldn't live up to them. I didn't leave your service because there were a few issues with the account, I left because we had a time sensitive project that was already tested and needed to go online ASAP and your service didn't work. We were forced to go elsewhere. Also where is the 30% refund that you promised?? Hopefully you haven't been promising things like that to people and have yet to deliver on those as well.
