Holdfire is a small company that I came to find, and the prices seemed good, so I bought a reseller account. It's located at holdfire.net (not even a .com, which I did think was a bit odd).
That was a big mistake. Here's my review:
Price:
The pricing is great! It's very cheap, and they have this contract buy-out service where if you have any service elsewhere, they will refund you the amount of money still left on your other service if you go with their service. So, that helps cut down on pricing. You have to provide an invoice for your other service in order to receive any refund.
Uptime:
Holdfire claims to have 99.9% uptime. But that's just a claim. I've been put through a few holdfire servers (they only have 5 in total) because of the bad uptime, and each time, I've met with quite some downtime. The downtime can take from 5 minutes to 5 hours. So, I would recommend everyone to be wary of this. This also seems to happen at least once per week (usually a few times, and more on the weekends because of backing up).
Customer Service:
First off, I have to say that this company is actually a one-man business. The person behind this hosting service is a 21 year old college undergraduate named Jordan. She claims to have her company as her primary job right now (but who knows, because from her own personal blog, which she advertises, it seems that she is looking for some other job). The responses are usually quick--10 minutes to 30 minutes. However, sometimes, they take over 2 hours to respond to, but that's relatively quick compared to other companies.
However, the responses are usually snappy and blame any fault reported on the customer. There is no apologetic tone at all. She doesn't settle for no tone either. If anything, there is a condescending tone where she pushes anything the customer has said as wrong. For example, if I saw that my website has been down, and then after two hours (in which time the server may have resolved itself), she would just reply, "Your website isn't down to me. I just loaded it in under 5 seconds. The server has been perfectly fine for months; I don't see any problem at all." And if you try to use any of her previous words to substantiate your problem, she would accuse you of manipulating her words.
Unfortunately, she is the only worker for customer service for Holdfire, so there is no other worker with better words. Usually, if there is a problem. she can't do anything to resolve the problems either. She doesn't actually manage the data centers, so she can only wait. Basically, you get no customer service.
So, in conclusion, this hosting service is cheap, in every single way. In a service where you pay for what you get, the service is beyond terrible. The uptime isn't what it claims to be and the customer service only makes the customer mad and doesn't solve anything.
I don't wish anyone to fall into what I have--she only gives a 14-day money back guarantee (and I've read from others not even), so I'm stuck with her service at the moment.
I recommend going with another host.
