I am looking for a shared windows hosting in aussie. I need a shared mssql and a minimum of 50GB bandwidth per month. Does anyone have a recommendation?

From some reason all the hosting providers I saw give a very low bandwidth. Is there a reason I can get 100GB for $30 world wide but about 1/10 for the same price in Australia?

That's because you might be comparing the bandwidth costs between Australia and USA. Bandwidth costs in Australia are significantly higher than those in USA and hence you'll be get far less amount of bandwidth for same price when you are looking for Australian datacenter hosting.

I understood that, but I cannot figure out the reason for this difference. Anyways, I accept this situation and tying to find a good hosting for my site.

Have you tried looking at the prodivers on Web Hosting Talk Australia, http://www.webhostingtalk.com.au

The reason for the expensive bandwidth in Australia is due to the fact that there are only two under sea cables connecting Australia to the rest of the world. Although I am aussie bassed I choose to locate my initial servers in the US for this reason.

Thanks! I will take a look on this site.

My target visitors are from Australia, isn't it too slow to connect a server on the US (Califonia I guess)?

You can get a test file download from your prospective host to check the connectivity and speed in Australia yourself.

Although I am aussie bassed my servers are in Califonia, The download speed on average maxed out my connection
(1.5mbit/256kbit ADSL) but pings average to be around 207ms

If you want a test file to download I can upload one for you.

Hello GoraGuru,

Which part of Australia would you prefer your sites to be located?

Take into consideration that web hosting is a global service. It does not matter what country you are located in; US, UK, Canada, Australia or India.

You should try to host as close to your target market as possible (SEO and web load times are a big consideration for business sites).

Goraguru,

you may try out aussiehost.com which is owned by aussiebob, a regular in this forum. Their servers are located in Sydney. And pricing is reasonable too.

P.S I have never been a customer of aussiehost.com but was happy with the service while i was with dotable.com which is a hosting company formerly owned by aussiebob.
