Whilst searching for my company on google, I noticed a disturbing digg post. The post (http://digg.com/tech_news/No_1_Fraud_company_SpeedySparrow_com) is apparently about my company, SpeedySparrow, scamming someone out of $319.99 USD.

Being the owner of SpeedySparrow, I know we haven't had anyone ask for a refund on any of our plans, so I know this post is untrue.

I think this may have been posted by the person who I proved was a scammer on the DigitalPoint forums. I posted MSN screenshots of him stating that he was closing (without telling his clients) and running with the money he had made (he only signed yearly clients). I think he has posted this for revenge but I don't think it has affected my company at all.

I am just wondering what I can now do to get this post removed or to get this user banned from digg? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Luke

You're afraid of a random digg post made with no proof whatsoever? I guess you could contact digg and ask them if the post can be removed, as they should be able to help you out.

Well if others search google before buying with me, they will see that thread. That is why I am worried :(

I would be just as concerned, seeing as Digg search results usually end up on the first page, and this can be something a potential customer wouldn't simply dismiss right away. I would certainly contact them and see what can be done.

Posting the comment was a good idea. If people do stumble upon that Digg post it should be able to make them question the validity of the post.

The best thing beyond that would be to contact Digg themselves and see if the post can be removed.

I personally wouldn't care what someone said in a post on the net. So you happened to stumble across it and it probably pissed you off. Responding to the ticket was just adding oxygen to the fire and he'll probably retaliate and make things even worse.

There is always going to be a companyname_sucks.com type of site out there. You just need to keep moving forward and satisfying your current customers. You can wish that there were less idiots in the world on one hand, and $@*% on the other and unfortunately the latter is always going to be full.

We think that reputation management on the web is important.

He says his name is Luke, you never had a Luke in your cust base? In some ways I don't see why somebody would post such a thing unless if it was a childish bashing by somebody you had a little tussle with.
