View Full Version : Your top 5 best providers
node9 03-18-2001, 05:45 PM Alright guys
What i want to know is what you all think are the top 5 best dedicated hosting providers/co-location stuff
I honestly can't choose
but i'd like to have some input by someone/anyone
Perhaps reasons why, so and so is better
so we can all get different understands of each place
Dylan 03-19-2001, 03:39 PM I honestly can't choose
Which 5 did you have in mind?
everyone 03-19-2001, 08:34 PM I am currently working with Burst.net, and I plan to set up a server with them in the next week. I chose them out of the rest because first, the people there are friendly, and you feel like you really matter because they try very hard to make it right for me. Although I am not currently on their services yet, I know it will all go great. Their prices may seem a little high, but it comes with the CPanel3 control panel free (usually about $300 per a month). Check them out and let me know what you think. If you want me to tell you about the other companies I have researched, let me know.
Dylan 03-19-2001, 10:42 PM everyone, can you like stop cross posting?
everyone 03-19-2001, 10:59 PM I am sorry...I did not know it was cross posting if it was for do different people..I will just link to it next time...
Peeps 03-19-2001, 11:21 PM Burst? Based on what I've seen from them (or at least Sean) I wouldn't touch them. Poor public image may not mean everything, but the way they treat customers and former customers in public makes me shudder to think how they treat them in private.
everyone 03-19-2001, 11:39 PM I looked here on the board, and there were not a lot of bad things about burst with in the last month or so..I have been working with Sean. You have to remember that only a few out of many people with burst.net are having problems and they may not all be bursts fault...I will give them a try
Although, I'm not a customer I'd pick Tera-byte.
Peeps 03-19-2001, 11:58 PM Knock yourself out. If that long thread from Jeremy in the general web hosting doesn't demonstrate to you that the problem is not necessarily dissatisfied clients but an overall attitude problem from Burst/Sean, that's something that no one can point out for you. I've read your other post regarding how one goes about doing business after getting a server, and the only thing I can say is good luck. You'll need it, because you've not thought things through very well or developed a plan that will enable you to survive any longer than some of these other hosts who have folded their tents. I will give you a tip for free, which I would never do in real life since consulting is such a fine life: you must be able to see the big picture. You must be able to see how your upstream's attitude, professionalism, and appearance will affect you and your nascent business. If you don't, or if you deliberately close your eyes to things that might be unpleasant, the end result will not be success.
everyone 03-20-2001, 12:04 AM Actually, I am not only using this for a hosting company. I have a schools website that needs to be run on a dedicated, so I thought why not add a hosting company? I do not plan to start the hosting company for another six months so I can make a plan. It is worth a try.
Dylan 03-20-2001, 12:12 AM I hope you people don't mind, but I'm filling buckets with water...
Chicken 03-20-2001, 01:07 AM besides whether Burst is good or not, anyone else want to help the thread topic?

Based on what I have seen on these boards, I would recommend the following in no particular order:
http://www.hostrocket.com
http://www.4webspace.com
http://www.dtwebworks.com
The representatives from these companies, are helpful (even to those who are not their customers), intelligent, and if there is an issue with their service, they always handle it in a quick and professional manner.
baileysemt123 03-20-2001, 02:19 PM Another vote for VO.
http://www.venturesonline.com
Super support, very friendly staff, they don't rest until it's taken care of. :) Very competitive prices, really complete offerings so far as scripts, cpanels, whm, the whole 9 yards.
:D Bailey
I'll also put my vote for VenturesOnline.com.
Just got my box and been very happy for the past week.
And if you use the supportdesk, your queries are usually answered within 12 hours. And they also work through SAT and SUN!!
