Hehe, touchy
Well, I can tell you, that you're paying on the low side.
Pekay 09-02-2002, 05:19 PM Good to hear!
I see potential here! :)
AndyGett 09-03-2002, 12:09 AM I've been quoted US$50/mo for 1u colocation plus $0.99 / gB, minimum 20gB, burstable bandwidth. As soon as I get my server and set it up, I'll sign the contract.

Ouch, thats expensive!
diederik 09-03-2002, 04:49 AM $0.99 /gb expensive ?
Maximiliam 09-03-2002, 05:06 AM No.. but $50 for 1 U is...

I don't think $50 per U is at all expensive. I'm paying that for triple-redundant burstable OC3 fiber connections and 100% Uptime (they even put it in writing). Sure beats the $200/month nelix.com (http://www.nelix.com/colocation.html) wanted for a shared T1.

a dollar / gig is also much :)
Sprynex 09-03-2002, 11:26 AM I agree.. I pay about half that.. $50 per u is considerably cheap.. if you just use 1u cases ofcourse :).. I get a rack for $500 a month.
cbtrussell 09-03-2002, 11:46 AM $50/U expensive?
$1/GB expensive, on a 20GB commitment?
GIVE ME A BREAK. What planet are you guys from? "Hello, I am Lobalz from the planet BottomFeeder" This board just gets worse and worse.
Jeez.

One thing you have to realize is that, at least in my case, this is a first business for my partner and me. All the cash that is going toward the business is mine - we have no other finacial backing. We only have 1 server, and most of the sites right now belong to friends of ours (lab rats?). For those of us just starting out, we need cheap (inexpensive) but yet reliable colo.
In my case inexpensive = profit = I get another mini-ITX based computer :) That makes me happy.
Maximiliam 09-04-2002, 07:45 AM We pay $22.50 per U. Thats more convinient :)

Can you tell me to who you pay $22.50/u ?
Maximiliam 09-04-2002, 01:43 PM It is a full 40U rack, thats why :)
$850 for the full rack / 40U = $21.25
So it is even cheaper than i thought. Though there are cheaper around.
Pihana Pacific is the company..
Rebies 09-05-2002, 02:50 PM Yes, going for the full rack is a deal, but for most of us it is not an option.
Another deal I found on these boards..

$35 a month for 1U and $10/50GB with $1/GB when you go over. Not a bad deal. Located in Toronto. I guess this would work very well if planning to upgrade to more U's. Only have to add $35 a month per 1U to make the upgrade. Bandwidth should stay the same.
Another mediocre deal I ran across that might find someone's heart.
