Just an odd question to ask, Though do any of you hosts out there allow clients to make a website about your website?

Meaning in the way of, That it sucks?

For example your site is "xxx.com" and your client hosts "xxxsucks.com".
Would you allow that to be hosted?

Anjyways it is just an odd question as someone wanted to host that about our site.

Thanks
Sean

Yeah it is what I thought, I was not sure if he was playing games. I would not necessarily approve of someone hosting mysite sucks on my own beautiful servers as he called them. I recorrect Brilliant!

Anyways, Thanks for the replies guys.

No, I would not host a hate site -- especially if the site was hatin' me.

Well there was too believe or not too believe. He left a remark saying I was rude and he left me a poor old rating of 1. Mind you he was Australian which is sad.

Anyways hope he likes his new host, Dreamhost!! ha ha

Why would someone want to host a site like that and expect the host to say that was ok? Go ahead why not... lol

Sure, just long enough to gather enough info for a libel suit. :)

Maybe someone that may have had a rotten experience and wants revenge, it is possible. Personally as I said I would not allow it on my own servers, But I have a feeling it was not serious.

I think we would - namely because it's just an opinion (free speech people). Libel suits would likely fail - plus you have to have a sense of humor as a provider.

I say yes :)

I wouldn't censor a site just because I didn't like it's contents unless it violated some law.

I wouldn't censor a site just because I didn't like it's contents unless it violated some law.

How I should made it sound was I would not personally like to host the site, Even though it is not violating or breaking any rules then I have not really a choice but to accept the fact that it would be hosted on my own servers.

I mean yes I have a choice to reject a "person" who may wish to host such a site but again they are not breaking or violating any rules~!

I really doubt that people would actually believe that person's site. I mean if they do a traceroute on the site it'll just link back to the host and they'll probably not believe the guy since he just seems like a jack***.

Do you know this particular person?

Edit: Say YES! But with ONE and ONLY condition. Put your ads on his site :P

LoL...I hate xxx.com but I put their ads and host with them!!

Normally in TOS from a hosting company comes a line that says no one can do nothing to hurt the image or name from the company.. so i suppose no one will host something like this.. but can be funny :P

I would refund their money and terminate their account.

There are better way of expressing negative thoughts. Not thro' such websites.

I would never allow them.

lol, do you traceroute every site you visit? Most people will have no clue.

I second that. I agree with free speech and all, but if someone chooses to attack you via a web site AND host it on your servers, they're fair game.

I'd see this as something I had no control over, if they have not broken your terms of service, or fair usage policy, you're pretty much being a ****** host, just because you don't agree with the content, doesn't give you the right to terminate their service.

What happens if it ends up 2nd on Google when searching your company up? People might see it and leave not knowing that its a parody of some sort.

Thats a gooooood question. But i don't see why not. as long as they are paying on time who cares?

I'd say go for it but get the ads and stuff on there like others have mentioned. ;)

Honestly I would have no control over it, I would not like such as site to exist in the first place, though there are no rules and regulations that can say "it can't be done".

Suppose all you can do is Grin and Bare it, Though each host has their mind to what they would not like on their servers and most are relatively the same. We all try to block bad content from Warez and Hacking to illegal pornography and so on, But in General there is no rule that states that they cannot host a site in which puts negativity on your company.

I know by experience here at Webhosting Talk that Bashing, Accusing or Stating false information about a Host is bad, Though that comes under Webhosting Talk Rules.

So by me allowing such a site to exist, then good for them but I would not really like it :(

I will agree with mike again here that if it does not violate a law then I should not really censor it!

I'd host 'em in a heartbeat.

Of course, I'd keep finding reasons to increase their monthly bill.

Unless I had a section in my TOS that said you cannot host such sites then yes, I would host them.

I would find it so funny and allow it, keep taking there money and send emails saying thankyou. Also all advertising good and bad is advertising ;)

Look how many bad feedback some sites got here and there doing well.

"Keep your freinds close, but keep your enemies even closer" springs to mind:D

You could put a link on your site saying something like xxxxxxsucks.com hosted by ***********. Then your visitors could see how much of a hipocrite they are

depends. if they had decent language and valid points, i would host them still.
